By Tax advantaged space you’re talking about an IRA right? Or 401k as well? I could be wrong but it seems like the way my work 401k is set up I can only pick from a handful of funds, not individual stocks. Does that sound accurate? Excuse my financial ignorance I’m just starting to really learn about all this s***

401k would be through your employer, IRA would be your own Roth or Traditional IRA.

And yes generally you only have the option of whatever your company selects, unless there’s an option to self administer.

For 90% of people the best bet is simply picking a Target Date Fund which will be a 3 Fund Portfolio of domestic and international equities, and some bonds corresponding to your age. Unless the only TDFs you have access to are bullshit like American Funds with insane expense ratios. In which case you may want to consider trying to construct your own three fund portfolio with the separate individual funds that are available to you

But if you have access to like Vanguard TDFs just pick the correct one for you, pay up to the employer match, put the remainder of your money into a Roth IRA up to the max, and chill.

    Appreciate you

Yeah I have all my s*** in my 401k in a Fidelity target fund, just rocking with that right now

For Roth/traditional IRA you recommend just tossing it into a fund as well? Especially if you’re someone like me who isn’t super educated on stock trading?

Yes. 90% of people shouldn’t be trading stocks, especially not in retirement accounts.

Easiest thing to do is just pick the same Fidelity TDF that you have in your 401k to maintain your asset allocation without thinking about it.

I would just start with that for now but if there’s a particular tilt you really believe in and are willing to stick to for the long haul, you can select different options in your IRA. For example, some people like a small cap value tilt. Me personally, I tilt towards international 50/50 instead of the market cap of 65/35 which is going to be in most TDFs. But if you’re going to that again you have to really believe in it and not be tempted to tinker with your allocation. The simplest path for the vast majority of people is going to be simply doing TDFs, because you don’t have to worry about rebalancing and s*** and it makes you less likely to make behavioral mistakes.

    Banana Clip

My republican uncle is a trip man, he didn’t vote for Trump but has been in those right wing propaganda circles for decades since Limbaugh, the mental gymnastics he does to try and rationalize Trump’s actions are wild.

“Banana clip did you know Canada has a 200% tariff on America’s milk industry??”

Like Unc I truly don’t care man 😭😭 people smarter than us probably came to that deal how are you a milk trade expert now

Edit: and upon further review those milk tariffs were done under Trump admin in 2018

    LMAO

that isn't how it works bro. also nobody is trying to ban tiktok in the first place, american media corporations just want it for themselves.
