I agree 4YEO was inspired by TPAB in some ways

But I personally don’t feel like the beat for Folding Clothes was inspired by TPAB. Which beat sounds like that? That’s just Lacy’s sound to me it’s just him playing bass and guitar over some drums lol it’s not as layered or as jazz influenced as TPAB, it’s more of a funk soul thing. But much more straightforward and raw than TPAB

Did Cole maybe choose the beat because of TPAB making these vibes more popular this is possible. But I just don’t think Steve Lacy made that beat with TPAB in his mind at all

Cole's diss is serviceable but it doesn't land because you can't really buy into what he's saying. He sounds like he's holding back and you know from the type of music Cole makes and from his words in the past that he loves Kendrick's s***. It just doesn't work as a diss coming from him.
