    New Vagabond

Family Ties was a big hit and was obviously the start of the Mr. Morale rollout. Just because none of the Morale songs became hits, doesn't invalidate Kendricks ability to make hit songs. Its just one album cycle.

Baby Keem and him have four songs together. How can you assume that its automatically going to do damage when they do a song? Family Ties is a hit ofc but then you have Range Brothers which is an album cut, Savior and then you have Hillbillies next.

You are making a big statement on Kendrick's success but you don't have enough evidence for that. Because he only dropped Hillibillies inbetween Morale and Like That. Thats one song.

Fair enough. I'm not trying to suggest that every Kendrick/Baby Keem collab should be a massive hit. I'm saying they usually make some noise, even if only culturally. The Hillbillies is really their first song together that didn't do that.

I'll say it one last time: trying to act like Like That/Not Like Us, two songs by/featuring Kendrick that also happen to go at Drake, becoming two of his biggest hits ever after a dry spell of no hits of that level, have absolutely nothing to do with Drake, is being disingenuous.

Not Like Us broke streaming records no other Kendrick song came close to breaking but yes, that has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that it's also a song that has him dissing the biggest rapper in the world lol.

    Y'all believe what you will.

2024 and people still haven’t realized it’s more to an artist’s career than just “hit records”. I guess I get why a Drake Stan would maybe feel that way because he’s routinely pushed aside artistry or growth in music for chasing numbers.

Even when he had the opportunity to really dig into his creativity with honestly nevermind he added jimmy crooks to satisfy the numbers.

  • Can’t lie, if Kendrick don’t put the nail in the coffin by end of the year he going to start looking funny in the light.

I know this is all jokes for some of yall but the implications in this beef are too large to ignore. Cant make claims like that and not see it through. Even as an avid listener of rap music I feel like it would be irresponsible to not turn my back and embrace hiphop instead.

The messaging and vibe of rap is pretty low vibes of negativity stunted growth and clear depression hidden behind good production.

Hillbillies is essentially what, Kendrick and Keem freestyling over the sticky beat? I doubt they put that out thinking this has to go #1.

Of course, the Drake beef had an effect on these songs performance. There is no denying that but you were talking like Kendrick is not able to have hits without Drake anymore, although he only released HIllibillies after Morale.

Would Kendrick be able to have a song as big as NLU without the beef? Very difficult. But hits like NLU are rare. Not even Drake can have a hit like NLU that easily and arguably hasn't in a long time.

I like this video, because it is true. But I always felt like the voice thing been a huge factor of standing out.

People like Pac, Snoop, Em, Jay, Nas, Tip, and Phife all had unique voices.
