From a business perspective their argument makes zero sense

If UMG is paying an artist 400m their ROI projections are probably in the billions

yes its a business but drake is also an extremely valuable act to sign. u can't seriously believe they didn't work w him when it came to terms and limitations. i mean what is ur point here other than the fact Drake has a deal w UMG.

No one is saying he’s stuck in a bad deal

But he’s still in a deal. They don’t just give him a pass because they like him or something

    This is about making money

highly doubt drake doesn't have autonomy. dude is not dropping on some label's say-so.

uh yeah but its like a high roller type thing. drake gets comps. deal is favorable and he's doing fine money wise. if i was u i wouldn't put much stock in the "drake is stuck in a bad deal" angle. he's good.

What you're saying is exactly why UMG would wanna step in before s*** gets too ugly. He's not in a bad deal, but on the other end of the battle is a dude hellbent on turning drake into a bad stock

Again I’m not saying Drake doesn’t have freedom lol

I’m saying a deal is a deal. You can sweeten it up all you want but at the end of the day it’s still a business with 1 goal: Make as much money as possible

wtf is ur point then. that drake has a deal w umg? like yeah that's true but i don't see why it's worth pointing out.

I never said Drake was in a bad deal. None of us know the exact figures he’s pulled in since he signed with UMG.

All I was saying is that the record label 100% expects to be in the deep profit margins with an asset like Drake on their roster.

As a loose example, say UMG wants a 2X+ ROI. That would roughly be $1b that Drake as a brand needs to generate for them. It makes sense that he would drop as many projects as he has been to recoup their costs

Wouldn’t be too difficult to hit that number with how popular he is/was

Yall are saying he’s good and he doesn’t need to do anything to appease UmG which is false from a business pov

There’s a bottom line that he has to achieve for them

UMG wants to make as much money as possible from him

This beef was putting dirt on his name/brand and Kendrick was saying he’s gonna take it even further

It’s not unreasonable at that point for UMG to step in and put an end to the beef

u saw my post. what is ur point here. why r u so fixated on pointing out that Drake has a deal w UMG.

oh and also 2x ROI on a 500 mil investment is stupid to expect. ridiculous u would say that's a "loose" example. it's straight up misleading.

UMG is not worried I'm saying. Drake has insane streaming numbers even right now, after kendrick s*** on him. they will recoup their investment and see some good profit too. it's a reach to say they would be seriously worried.
