I was lurking when Push Ups leaked. I was already rooting for Kendrick going in, but the response was so pro-Drake i felt the same concerns.

When Euphoria dropped I was so excited because it showed to me that Kendrick had what it took to win the beef.

There’s always been something to me that’s grotesque about Drake’s music. When I was younger and more woke than I am now, I was bothered by Drake’s music because it felt uniquely misogynistic in a way other rappers weren’t. When Hotline Bling came out, I felt like it was weird and controlling. Weezer made a song with a similar sentiment that was a semi-joke on their first album.

Over time my autist ass learned that I should treat b****es a certain way, that in part incorporated in the misogyny i had once been against. And i sort of let my thoughts about Drake fall to the wayside. And after all, a lot of b****es liked his music.

Idk the Bobbi Altoff situation bothered me. Like here’s a married woman who destroyed her marriage with someone who loved her very deeply over a crumb of attention from one of the most famous people on earth. And as Drake went into the 2020s, that sort of energy increasingly seemed to surround him. IG thots. Dubai. It’s all so gross and vapid. Godless.

Life’s about more than money and power and clout, yet Drake’s music and aesthetic continued to embody those values. I recently watched Kubrick’s Lolita, and when I listened to For All the Dogs shortly after, I heard Drake talk to women on there in the same way the pedophile talked to 12 year old Lolita.

When MTG came out, i was in the club with a girl and her friends. My friend texted me that Kendrick had dropped again, and I went outside to my car to listen drunk off my ass. Listening to the track was a profound experience because Kendrick painted a picture of exactly what rubbed me the wrong way about Drake.

I'm a fairly newer fan of the show only started watching in the past 2 years but s*** is too good man now I'm at the point where I can even soldier through the bombing sets without cringing haha. That's dope you saw Shane man you seen his new show Tires? pretty funny s***

It seems to me that you just listened to the big song but never anything like all the timestamps or even the rnb part. It also seems like you created a two dimensional Drake character in your head.
When Drake first came as a superstar, you might have been there but he was just an innocent kid who wanted to find the one. He wanted to be in love and treated every woman like some sort of queen. The entire game called him soft and corny for that. Every blog, every review…Etc…(there is the first meeting of Drake and Joe Budden where Drake does a hand kiss on a girl and Joe says : “You kissing b****es on the hand?!”
That why at first he was so relatable and he had the best most empowering women anthem from « Best I ever had » to « Nice for what » or even « Make me proud ».

So his entire career is him realizing that the girls in the lifestyle he chose are more shallow and manipulative he expected, BUT he’s makes them that way and he doesn’t know how to get out of this weird grotesque fame addiction.
Listen to “ I guess it’s f*** me” or “Search and Rescue” even “rich baby daddy” he still want love but he has to pay for it, or let girls take his money.
He’s just the same kid that wants love and he tries to be as “shitty” as Future but it doesn’t work on him.
What I love about Drake is that his music is the cautionary tale of the vision board. The real life « be careful what you wish for ».

As a Drake fan, even if this beef is painful, it’s also “beautiful” in a way because it’s like the world biggest intervention on a human being. K.dot and the fans saying you cannot continue like this. I just hope he will get the information.

But painting him or his music as just Godless and pedophile and manipulative, it seems really reductive. To me.
