Its a lot of y’all who quoted lol I can understand why it can seem like a big deal but it just doubles down on a narrative everyone has accepted about Drake at this point, he don’t write his raps like that

It will sting if the news comes out but it won’t end him, he’s never been known as the rappers rapper

You’ll be surprised at how many ppl think he actually writes his own rhymes now and that what was exposed back then was a one time thing

The Respect angle would be the most effective because when it comes to numbers and hit songs, it's not even close. People forget that Drake has ALWAYS been a student of the game and he does value his place in hip hop. Yes he's got fans wio only listen to him not rap, and that's what comes with the territory of his stardom, but he still values the respect that comes with rapping at a high level.
Bro came up listening to Little Brother and Clipse ffs

I would argue drake’s biggest Achilles heel is that he really does want the legends’ and his peer’s appreciation but also on his terms. Which is totally normal to want that praise from people you think are the best at what you do. That’s why he’ll try to get kendrick on first person shooter apparently, be in frenemy zone with Kanye in perpetuity, do a song with future when they’re not necessarily on same page. I think that’s why he gets sensitive about this kind of stuff. Not even trying to make him out to be a softie bc I can see how it would bother someone.

Disagree imo the stakes are very much high.

Look at what happened to Cole, streaming numbers for might delete later fell off astronomically and he’s a laughing stock online.

    Agreed

They can't see the implications of this because Drake already deserves no respect in their eyes and they can't see any other perspective outside of that

People joke on Drake and he is a meme and even seen as corny by some at times but his skill as a rapper is still very much revered by the general public which is why the average person said he was winning until Euphoria dropped. A reveal of something like that would do irrevocable damage and I think it would definitely show up in the numbers

He's a lot of peoples favorite rapper, this would be insane

that s*** was so unnecessary too. my sister was like "why'd he diss the Happy nigga??"

  • Gosh

These shambles are hilarious to me because if Kendrick’s reply was bad

We wouldn’t be debating if baby keem wrote damn

Or if Kendrick’s wife is black enough

The magnitude of this song has the people against it reaching far and wide and none of their explanations involve the actual song

The only thing that happened was complex showing true shoe size, embarrassing

The Off Season did so much to bring Cole back to his rightful spot alongside Drake and Kendrick in the public eye and he just threw all that good will away. Beefs really do have an effect, Common and Meek weren't the same after Drake and I think the same will be said about Cole losing to Kendrick in 10 years

I swear I’m not trying to hate on Drake, but the narrative put forward by that line, implying Kendrick just cares about numbers, is kinda destroyed by the fact that Kendrick randomly dropped on a Tuesday, instead of Friday (like Drake did)
