I had one of their later albums which was really good but I never really dove in tbh

Bruhhh they gotta be the best hiphop group of all time no cappity cap

And their discog is so versatile and full of live instrumentation and not to mention countless verses by one of the best rappers to ever grace a mic Black Thought

At least peep their more “traditional” rap records and beloved classics Illadelph Halflife and Things Fall Apart

I promise u you won’t regret it, they are honestly one of the greatest music acts ever

    I'll say this

Even MMLP2 has some songs I occasionally think about and like

Bad Guy and Time of the Season sample one. Love Game. Parking lot skit

MMLP2 could've been a minor classic with a bit of editing but oh well

Eminem's fall off is the most acute example of "losing the magic" I've ever seen

The only way anything after 8 Mile could sound listenable is if you were in elementary school the first time you heard it. I was in grade 8 when Slim Shady LP came out so for us it's been for 20 years now.

Is this how it ends? A lawsuit and the beef just peters out with a whimper?

    Lame

We still have about 2 years of this s*** left bruh, relax. It’s literally been a month why are niggas so impatient

I just can’t stand Em’s voice, and how he progressively started to sound more like a meme after each passing year

The epitome of lyrical spiritual miracle just for the sake of it

Idk Wu Tang literally changed my life and Outkast are even better. I like outrageous levels of rawness and creativity and I feel like Roots are more refined. I'll get back on them though.

Bro anyway Love Games is fun but through all his modern discography there's two solid classics, I remember recently running through it and Gnat is a great song by him, but if he can't do this right, idk man

Would've been good at best and what we got was on the low end of mediocre sliding towards bad.

But it could've been better than mediocre and that's what I'm hoping for this time around.

If you like raw then Illadelph Halflife is the right place to start

Jazzy influences are still there but it’s a lot more raw than a lot of their other work

And you know I hold OutKast in high regard as much as you do. I wouldn’t just lie on their name.. the Roots deserve to be named in the same breath as outkast easily

Imagine getting 2 albums and 3 songs, one of them being unprecedented, in a span of 3 weeks and calling s*** boring.

Go get some sun bruh, check back in in a week, you’ll feel better.

Nah wouldn't call it spiritual miracle cause he never gets that deep. At his peak he was like a more precise Ol Dirty B****** where you just couldn't believe the s*** coming out of his mouth, like who thinks of that.

If he doesn't do this right it's just another mid Em album like every one since Relapse and you could argue Recovery

I meant lyrical spiritual miracle in the most surface level way tho.. like he became a caricature of that and himself as time went on

Yeah I prefer hard funk influence over jazz by a very large margin. P-Funk my favorite group of the 70s and I've seen Prince and James Brown live so the funk is in my blood.

The roots isn’t really funk but then again their whole thing is mixing in all kinds of sounds and and changing their vibe every other album

If we do the Searchers x Shin Gojira rec swap we should do an album rec swap too so I can make you listen to the Roots asap

He was like my Beatles (before Kanye became my Beatles) and I had to drop all expectations for anything with the old magic like 15 years ago
