mr get doughAnybody who was debating Dot being top 10 before this s*** isn’t a nigga whose worth debating with frfr. Dot solidified himself as top 10 ever with DAMN. imo but I woulda had him in my top 10 in 2015 tbh. Atp Dot chasing #1 and its looking hella possible

He might be top 20-25 for me now.
I’ll always respect his run from Take Care-IYRTITL and his commercial dominance is respectable but the fact he still heavily uses ghostwriters to this day just leaves such a bad taste in my mouth. And it wasn’t like he was getting help with some co-writing, he had dudes like Vory and Yachty doing whole references for him.
Never could be the greatest for me off of that alone.

When you compare careers of the top MCs, Kendrick is the only one whose never really had a steep drop off in terms of lyrical ability/quality, beat riding, breathe control etc. in fact he’s the only one whose skill trajectory has only increased since the start.
Nas, Em, Lupe etc have all had luls somewhere in their careers where they dropped consecutive duds. Kendrick has not
That leaves Jay and Kendrick
Ima let time decide that one but i think it’s pretty clear that Kendrick is still getting better and improving which is borderline unheard of for someone this deep on their rap career

I really thought he stopped using writers after the Quentin s***. And I was willing to overlook it because everybody in the industry or most everybody has probably gotten help on writing at some point.
But to still have people making whole references for him and to blatantly lie about so many things? Yeah I lost some respect Ngl.

You're right that in the entertainment business, the entertainment aspect is usually to cater to the largest audience possible. But you can't really say what's to be entertaining to who. So many niche artists who are praised are overlooked, just like some artists get all the attention but mostly considered "fast food." This s*** don't matter if you like what you like. Look:
This came out in 1967 and was covering some groundbreaking stuff at the time like d*** use and BDSM on wax. It has inspired musicians who have gone on to make succesful albums, but this album had awful, awful sales. It's still a cult classic. Now look here:
