There's literally not 1 artist who managed to reach that level of stardom without making some accessible music, and he managed to do it with 3 albums, you look at the rest of the artists who are up there and they just constantly put out catchy music to remain hot...
DAMN. did a lot for him and what he was able to achieve with that album is amazing...there's not many mainstream rap albums like that if any at all where it's so diverse in sound and it's a dope mix of catchy ear candy s*** and straight up hip hop and at the same time u got positive message and dope themes and concepts
There were also those narratives where Kendrick can't make hits after TPAB came out so it's crazy how narratives switched again after he put out DAMN...lol
But yeah he's not gonna do the same s*** again if that's what you're wondering
I really f***ed with DAMN when it came out, Its a good album and I understand it was Kendrick attempt of a Mainstream album, I just prefer him doing hip hop, not pop music.
It's crazy how almost each song on Damn is influenced by a different goat artist (and is so well executed)
Love: Isaac Hayes
Yah: Prince (who influcenced 3k as well)
Pride: The Beatles
Lust: The Clash & Rat Boy
...
I thought someone said YAH was influenced by Frank Ocean?
I thought someone said YAH was influenced by Frank Ocean?
I know they said they were listening to Blonde or whatever when they made it but I don't really hear the Frank influence on that song
If that song reminds me of anything is Far From Here from the Kendrick Lamar EP

I don't hear Frank in that song either tbh.
Honestly Yah sounds very andre 3000ish, which, like Trip said, is influenced by Prince.
Have this feeling isaiah is coming out of the gate before kenny. Hopefully we get that Q album too he said was coming this year but it is TDE so who knows what's dropping besides Top.
