What does knowing how to play instruments has to do with anything if it doesn't translate into better music?

Kendrick also played keys on XXX. btw

    Really??

let's be clear here, while it was always the same big 3, it was always kendrick considered as the best, and drake as the most popular. Cole was literally the 3rd wheel in that big 3.

I was more concentrated on vocal performance and album structure

i think it's pretty weird to say that one is SO far off from the other though. i mean there has been the same "big 3" for the last decade for a reason. their skills are all up to par, the listener just may gravitate toward one or two more than the other.

all those guys have and continue to offer great art to this game.

Yes but that argument just satisfy the fact that there has to have a big three.

When Lebron was in his prime the next two people were not anywhere close. And in respects to albums and skills I think it’s the same for Kendrick.

to be even more clear, there was never a vote held or a unanimous verdict. because there can't be. this s*** is subjective.

If it was subjective, kendrick wouldn't be in the discussion for "best discographies" in hip hop. We have never seen the other 2 entering that discussion.

If Kendrick and Kanye were to drop a 80/100 album on metacritic, it would be the end of their career. The exact same album from Drake/cole and people would say they're getting better.

i can't agree on this. you need something substantial in order to proclaim something is greater than.

if you ask 100 hip hop ass niggas on some committee who's the greatest, 50 say Kendrick and the other 50 say Cole or Drake then where does that leave us? it's subjective.

edit: so basically i'm asking what the factor is that their greatness is being based on...

i've seen multiple polls on forum boards and I've always seen Kendrick rape drake and cole in these polls.

Subjectivity is only brought by some people that feel insecure about their favorite artists not being on the same level
