Cole can do a lot more artistically than Kenny though
in terms of rapping Kendrick is a couple levels above imo
Idk about this man
Cole can do a lot more artistically than Kenny though

lol.
Kendrick made an TPAB, an album that is literally considered as one of the greatest albums of all time, regardless of the genre.
J Cole's best album is barely considered a classic within the hip hop community...
I love Cole, I really do, but he ain't playing in the same league as kendrick, both as a rapper and as an artist.
Cole can do a lot more artistically than Kenny though

Cole can do more artistically? Lol. What have given you this impression
Cole can do a lot more artistically than Kenny though

Lmao artistically kendrick is also 10 levels above...
Why not?
I think that Kendrick realized a long time ago that quality is more important than quantity and we can see the same pattern in life. Why are diamonds so expensive, because they are rare, the demand forms the price? Kendrick is not only a great musician but he is also a great businessman and he knows that if he releases a double album with A1 songs they won't be appreciated as much as they would be appreciated if they were released in 2 separate albums.
Cole can do a lot more artistically than Kenny though
in terms of rapping Kendrick is a couple levels above imo
I feel like kendrick's inflections and voice changing, storytelling, song and album structure show his superior artistic side.
Take little nuances in songs like Sing about me where he re-enacts the shot of a gun when the character in song dies or his voice starts fading away when the girl is being forgotten.
even a song like U when he's rapping drunk but that's just his inner conscious fighting his guilt and worries.
I feel like Cole tried to do something similar with KOD but it didn't really transfer well. just my opinion. Ofcourse Cole also has to deal with producing so that prob takes up his time
lol.
LOL x 100
Cole is boring as f***, every album and song are the same he did not evolved musically at all, I totally respect him as a rapper but the comparison with Kendrick is ridiculous
Cole can do a lot more artistically than Kenny though

The nigga can make a beat and that’s about it
Like kamasi washington said (most acclaimed jazz artist right now), jazz made a comeback because of Kendrick. Dude even wrote the songs, melodies, notes, hooks for the vocalists that were featured on that album.
He just didn't make the beats, but his producers still admitted he was massively involved in that process.
damn y'all broke my notifs lol
Cole can play piano and violin that takes a lot of skill
idc if you think he's boring or whatever the fact remains.
Not saying he's better just reminding y'all of the mans talents
Tbh not mad at that opinion. I think Drake has more attributes in his bag. Different flows and cadences. Cole isn’t flashy at all which makes him not stand out outside of the big three
yeah. i think Cole and Pac are similar in that way where their main draw is the content and not necessarily the skill/ability.
Kendrick and Drake would be B.I.G. when it comes to the technical side of things as well as content.
damn y'all broke my notifs lol

it takes a lot more skill to understand jazz, soul and funk music than being decent at playing the piano.

we just talking vocal performance or the everything art?

He is talented but this is about artistry. His production side doesn’t make sense to defend when Kendrick doesn’t produce. And even with his production, Kendrick has been produced music. His production is actually a negative
it takes a lot more skill to understand jazz, soul and funk music than being decent at playing the piano.
ok now u sound salty

lol sorry bro
didn't know everyone was going to respond
ok now u sound salty
Not salty at all, cole is one of my favorite artists...but it takes a lot more skill to understand jazz, soul and funk music than being decent at playing the piano.
we're talking about an artist that didn't make any mistake in the musical composition of his album vs. an artist doesn't even know what a blue note is.

What does knowing how to play instruments has to do with anything if it doesn't translate into better music?
Kendrick also played keys on XXX. btw

so u think Cole doesn't understand music genres? cmon man
we just talking vocal performance or the everything art?
I was more concentrated on vocal performance and album structure
so u think Cole doesn't understand music genres? cmon man
nah Cole has a great ear tbh
so u think Cole doesn't understand music genres? cmon man
he doesn't...an artist that understand music like you say wouldn't make that many musical mistakes in his songs.
i think it's pretty weird to say that one is SO far off from the other though. i mean there has been the same "big 3" for the last decade for a reason. their skills are all up to par, the listener just may gravitate toward one or two more than the other.
all those guys have and continue to offer great art to this game.
