JbreezyondeckNot trying to side track because this is a Kendrick thread but at this point their careers are heavily intertwined, I really do love the fact that Kendrick is continuing to push himself as an artist and although you could argue he’s always been capable of making something like this, I do believe his ideology of hip hop being honed in specifically this year got us to where we are. It’s been said earlier but I don’t believe Drake has that anymore which is I guess his choice but in my opinion it sucks to see someone that albeit had a different approach but definitely had the same drive idk just lose it? I keep thinking to myself what would 2015 Drake have done if this beef was given to him and how he would’ve handled it during and post I just see it totally different from what actually happened. All in all I just love this album man. Really something that I personally needed from Kendrick because it was the one itch he hadn’t scratched for me and it’s everything I expected it to be and more
You are not wrong but there are several reasons for this. Can you imagine putting hip hop first and shattering every single record while dropping timeless music just for people to continue to refuse to give him his flowers? He realized that he can never please them and that they won't give him the respect he deserves. Several years went by and he then signed a 400m deal. I can't blame him that he just said f*** it all imma just enjoy life and do whatever I want
