it's fun too to dissect but sometimes you wanna shut off and s***post to make fun with other users that you know it'll "slightly" annoy them.
reincarnated to me means a lot because not only the content of the song (as both a billie holiday fan and just knowing of many black artists that went down that path of addiction) but the song being sampled was one of my favorite Pac songs ever.
It is interesting to see what people's a***ysis of certain songs are like. even if that a***ysis is negative. Until it gets a bit overblown (hence idf-gate) then it's like
but otherwise, people like what they like.
in the idf post I literallly say "I am tweaking and wrong I havent slept" yet you keep bringing it up

I was just bringing it up this time as an example of why I reacted to it the way I did no shade
Dude with the Iverson avi. He said Pharrell is better than Q Tip uses samples.
Everybody stopped what they was doing and got on his head
Pharrells production fall off gotta be one of the worst oat. It’s up there with RZA at this point
Man was one of my goats
Rap used to be a whole world. You had so many different camps making hella money and hits so there was always crazy s*** going down and bangers being dropped
From g unit to dipset, terror squad, disturbing the peace, def jam, Nelly and his crew, aftermath, murder inc, cash money records. Man rap is a dot on the map now compared to the globe it used to be
The music industry was a little different back then.
Heavy gatekeeping by studio execs and more than often got final approval of what tracks made the final cut of an album. Sometimes at the detriment of the artists original intent for the project.
Nas’ I Am and Nastradamus is a famous example of this. The original concept was so much better than the released product. Fortunately, the loose tracks are out there so fans can compile the double album themselves if they want
99.9% of the time I feel bad for artists back then
but 1% of the time prevented THIS from happening

Bro Tribe Called Quest legacy would've been permanently changed if there wasn't a c***that went "
yall NOI niggas is bugging out dawg this aint dropping "

Because hating on sampling is nonsense fr. Like that’s the whole damn foundation of the genre.
Like it’s cool that Pharrell composed his beats from scratch but that doesn’t make him better then Q-Tip overall.

Everything feels isolated into sub genres

They needed Big so badly to help them with a hook

I swear man s*** was insane back then tryna pin point when the mass downsizing began I’m thinking the ringtone and dance era where one hit wonders came and went may be been the turning point
I personally took the concept of Kendrick, being extremely present starting with the feb gnx IG post, facing his reckoning concerning the events that took place this year and making a statement that he is not going anywhere anytime soon. That’s why reincarnated’s placement as the 5th track choice was so intentional and a shift for a song you would usually find as the closer in his past albums.
Wacced out murals being his PSA on the aftermath beef, squabble up carrying the West Coast celebration energy since NLU and planting a flag on his win, luther being an affirmation to protect Whitney from the world, man in the garden being another statement of his place in rap history as he digs deeper frustrations with the current state of it all.
But reincarnated is really the shift of the album with Kendrick repenting at the end of the song to God for the carnage he caused this year and vowing to use music for a more productive purpose. Then in Kendrick’s still being a Gemini with a wicked sense of humor, goes straight into tracks like tv off (the celebration of the Super Bowl), love letter to LA in dodger blue, reconciling with his departure from TDE in the heart pt. 6, showcasing other LA artists in GNX, and then personifying his pen in Gloria. And of course, the placements of hey now and peakaboo are sprinkled reminders that he is not afraid to pop out as the boogeymen.
Thank you for your a***ysis family. Love reading everyone’s perspectives on the album in ways that I’ll usually miss

Tread carefully, Soulja boy and Chingy slander around these here parts is tricky

I mean I think that is also part of what annoys me. Kendrick has more creative freedom than most rappers entire careers so a lot of the "why cant they be more like Kendrick" is often hampered by a record exec, label, budget and so many other factors. Even if their mixtapes, loosies, interviews are one way they have to drop what they got to drop to move units and make money
the amount of cancelled albums, projects, songs and so much more because a white record exec is like "fuck all that I am trying to make money say nigga s***" only for Kendrick to turn around and say "watch the party die"
when often them entertaining the party is possibly what frees their family from poverty . Dolph, Takeoff, Pop Smoke, Future , FBG Duck, Von , Chief keef and many more. Like even if it took me a little on the drill artist . The idea that everyone should aspire to be kendrick lamar is the same as my least favorite article in chicago
chicagotribune.com/2017/07/03/chance-reminds-us-black-boys-are-worth-fighting-for

"There is little, if anything, we can do about family situations that are imperfect. But that doesn’t mean we should give up on the kids whose parents are less than ideal.
Chance represents so many young men in Chicago who are nearly bursting at the seams with fresh ideas and the smarts to make them happen. All they need is an opportunity.
If we look closely, we can see Chance in the faces of the bucket boys sitting on the 87th Street exit ramp off the Dan Ryan Expressway, creating beautiful drumbeats on white buckets held between their knees.
We can see Chance in the street dancers who travel from disadvantaged neighborhoods to earn money performing on Michigan Avenue.
There are young Chance the Rappers all over Chicago. They could soar too, if only they had the chance."
I know chances people but I detest this article
cause its like let each human be a human being they do the same with kendrick
"Kendrick reminds us black men are worthwhile" feels like an article a craquer would love to type

see only condom eyes can get them to do this
when I say concepts I do not mean him responding to a beef that blew up this year I mean something a little deeper than that. I do appreciate you actually making a longer form post though so will apologize. But GNX isnt like a largely conceptual album. That isnt to say there is no meaning but there isnt like some hard hitting message. I think skits, interludes and more elements could really help it for me personally
Yeah, that makes sense. Even though it is cohesive as a sound, it doesn’t have the connectivity of a larger theme that his past projects had, outside of the mariachi singer.
I also think that’s why some mistaken this for a mixtape. They were taken back by Kendrick just being simply present and stacking concepts within songs without a clear cut concept.
