There were tons of intellectual, freedom fighter conscious rappers but the labels made them uncool for kids to listen to around the early 2000s. Lupe tried to breath life into that movement but it didn’t catch on as heavily as many of us wanted

There was a distinct lineage of positive rappers from Zulu Nation -> Native Tongues -> Soulquarians and should’ve kept going but the bloodline was cut there. You can thank Lyor and execs like him for that

Drake is taking part in straight up subliminal manipulation. not just him, but every podcast promoting Prize Picks, Kai Cenat hosting gambling streams, Mr.Beasts' very existence. pop-culture feeds children mental poison, provides outlets for their addiction, then advertisers give away small amounts of consumer junk to sustain their addiction. even the loot-box systems in video games are re-wiring our children's brains. our culture is so cancerous/vapid and Drake is probably the biggest proponent of our fixation with nihilistic consumerism. this Kendrick beef might be the beginning of a cultural shift away from material envy, but he's preforming during an event notorious for advertising and commercial manipulation. it's lowkey hilarious that the most prevalent revolutionary in modern music is still at the behest of corporate interests and commercial platforms. the more time passes, the more I understand the message of DAMN. we are a damned people, that must take responsibility for own lives and loved ones to make sure we don't buy the bullshit they're selling.
