serenadei think natural decline and growing disinterest in rap music are both factors. i just find it hard to believe they account entirely for a 61% drop in streams (169m to 65m) between january 2024 and december 2025.
only reason i can think of that doesn't involve botting is the boost he got from her loss. maybe if that album never happens, there's a more gradual decline from savage mode 2 --> AD --> WHTTS?. that could be it tbh.

The 169M for american dream was the natural decline.

Natural decline & Trap being past its shelf life as a sub genre.
Rap has yet to have any subgenre or sound truly replace Trap yet though, so now all the 2010s rappers are on their way out + having huge declines with no 2020s rappers to replace them. So on paper the genre is just crumbling in general.
21/Future/Gunna/Cardi/Migos/etc late 2010s s*** was always gonna eventually decline and be on its way out. That wasn’t timeless music whatsoever.
It’s just the fact nothing has came to replace that is crazy. Should be a bunch of new rappers with different sounds.
But these newish rappers still tryna chase that sound and dumb rap music down further
