I agree with point about the volume of music. But that kind of contributes to what I'm talking about. No one (could be wrong from a contractual standpoint but doubt it) told Drake he HAS to release at this rate. I understand he wants to feed his fans and I respect that but the process in which he does matters too (just speaking strictly from the GOAT argument).

Taylor Swift is a bit of a different conversation. Pop music isn't rooted in the same manner of individual competition of ability. It is and always will be more rooted in the final product and its consumption. Unrelated to writing, but I think she's someone who lost her "why" at some point and now has different motivations that she simply cannot admit to for narcissistic reasons.

Fair enough. I could be wrong but I think Drake has always been the kind of artist to feed his base and that's his reason for being so prolific.

I can only speak for myself but the GOAT argument for me has always been subjective and not really based on who does or doesn't write all their s***. That's something that'll always be an unknown to the audience and rappers are liars. Because they say something doesn't mean it's true.

Many people have Nas as their GOAT but we know he has worked with writers before. That doesn't knock him down a peg in my book because I've always understood that it's impossible to write hundreds and thousands of songs entirely by oneself without at least one or two people contributing — especially when it's being down on a mainstream level. That's something I became firmly rooted in believing when I better understood exactly how writing credits work and how even just contributing a word to a song entitles you to a writing credit.

I believe sometimes, it's not even that they NEED the outside contribution. It's about getting another perspective that they find value in and then moving ahead with that contribution because it works and makes the song better and that's the only way to create art imo — unselfishly and egoless and doing everything in service of the song.
