i guess i assumed we're holding him to a certain standard but its cool. if drake wrote that and someone told me its a diss, i would side eye them because drake would've added several layers or hints to it if it was directed at a particular person. same with kendrick. i naturally assume its him doing the moral savior complex thing because he would've layered it better as a diss

you've moved on from talking about delivering sneak disses cleverly to fixating on the corniness of a certain lines in an explicit diss track. drake and j cole will always have more corny lines than kendrick since they actually try to use double entendres, metaphors and punch lines in their songs instead of replacing lyricism with just rapping esoterically.

again, if drake rapped those bars and I was told 100% it was a sneak diss, i would just shake my head and move on because whats the point of sneak dissing if you're not gonna be directly clever with it. Jay z does this amazingly as well. i hold kendrick to the same standard

The entire track is Kendrick venting about how f***ing stupid it is to view entertainers as saviors or moral compass. The very verse you're quoting is explicitly showcasing how meaningless it is for them(HIMSELF included) to speak up about public issues.

This s*** is not even up for interpretation. It is extremely clear what this song is about from the first line, to the hook, the bridge and the last bar.
