If you made a list of the songs with most streams first year in the US

Blinding Lights would not even be top 20

Yes the f*** it would are you crazy

    It would’ve been #2 in 2019

Whats so funny is you've always denied OTR

When no song has ever come close to its peak streaming performance

Meanwhile you'll say TTPD is one of the biggest albums of all time, when multiple CURRENT albums have touched its peak streaming performance and are even surpassing it

Old Town Road had a crazy strong first year I’ve never denied that

So why didn’t any 2020s Drake song chart for the same amount of time then? No 2020s Drake song received the same amount of streams three years post-release, so the radio excuse is bullshit

Cause hiphop songs don’t get the same love that pop music does on radio. Do you really need everything broken down for you? lol

Can you not read? Radio has nothing to do with the US Spotify chart, it’s all streams. Why did Blinding Lights last three years on that chart but no 2020s Drake single has so far?

Blinding lights the supposed “biggest hit of all time” according to billboard is not even top 10 lol. Meanwhile 3 songs that dropped in the same year during its chart run is higher on the list

You must be slow or something. That’s performance within each song’s first full year. Billboard ranked it as the biggest hit of all-time based on its all-time performance, which outdoes all of these songs.

On the 2020 and 2021 lists of highest streamed songs in the US, the ONLY song that appears in the Top 10 for both years is Blinding Lights, and that’s because its longevity was insane. It’s the only song this entire decade to appear in the Top 10 of two separate years

It all comes down to what you value more. To me Peak>>>Longevity
MJ is the goat cause he had the greatest peak ever, even tho lebron has had a longer career of being great which allows him to have almost all career records

Okay, I’ll ask you a simple question then.

Two songs release on the same day.

Song A debuts at #1, Song B debuts at #50.

In the second month, Song A has fallen to #50, and Song B steadily rises all the way to #20.

And by the end of the third month, Song A has fell all the way to #90, about to leave the chart, and Song B has climbed and peaked at #2.

If you were an artist, which of these songs would you rather was yours?

F*** doing the hypotheticals. I personally prefer a the box type song in terms of size over a blinding lights size song. The Box was absolutely massive during in its run and peaked crazy high in points for a good 10+ weeks. Blinding Lights chart run looks less impressive as time goes on when it’s records have been broken by two different songs in only a few years
Song was massive no doubt but it was absolutely juiced in this inflated ass chart era where songs charting for 50+ weeks has become the norm

Blinding Lights spent more weeks in the Top 5 and the Top 10 than The Box. So it peaked for much longer than The Box did.

The Box released AFTER Blinding Lights did, so this “inflated chart period” you’re talking about for BL also applies to The Box
