You might be referring to how albums are categorised for awards and that's likely out of the power of artists because Drake has also complained about Hotline Bling winning rap category awards at the Grammys.

You actually do decide how your albums/songs get categorised on DSPs. Some DSPs might recategorize your album for you if you use a genre that's not in their system but that's about it.
