People keep making the lack of new interest a radio problem when it’s really not. If you look at the highest streamed songs on US Spotify this past week, the Top 20 is just as dire at the Hot 100’s. People at large are generally not gravitating towards most new mainstream music. Complaining that the radio is to blame is basically saying that radio should be inorganically manufacturing these newer songs to seem more popular than they actually are by playing them all day

More like tiktok effect. Tiktok is constantly blowing up older songs for a new audience to stream

    That happens every year.

Bad Bunny dropping an album in January and Kendrick Super Bowl effect doesn’t.

For most people streaming is just radio they pay for

    It’s not at all

Blaming the radio because enough people don’t give a s*** about their personal favorite songs is hilarious

Radio is outdated and moves too slow. I’m listening rn at work and they just played Flo Rida.

Who wants to hear Flo Rida in 2025. They refuse to adapt. No wonder labels have trouble breaking new artists.

If I gotta hear A Bar Song, Beautiful Things, or Lose Control one more time…

    Drop those f***ing songs already

Usually when an artist drops a new single their old single gets “dropped” from radio to push the new single. How come that doesn’t happen with these dinosaur ass songs?

Thinking radio isn't the problem when it's mainly ran by people paid to program certain songs is crazy. Radio still having this much power when it comes to metrics is a relic of the bad days of the industry.

Because Blackrock and other VCs got interested in buying catalogs of older music, everybody is pumping up the numbers to eventually sell years down the line (that's the thinking anyways)

Drake stans all of a sudden becoming anti radio because it doesn’t reflect their group chats is disingenuous

They have been nowhere to be found the last 15 years everyone else has hated radio

Oh IM SORRY nobody talked about streaming from a fan perspective in 2009 before any Dsps were public.
If you paid attention no drake fan even paid attention to radio after the AM deal he had, then fans noticed how powerful radio is and why it shouldn't be especially after the streaming and digital singles boom.

Also drake from a mainstream superstar perspective is one of the first to kinda even shun radio "billboard got me regulated.."

Also a less talked about demographic, whatsapp aunts and uncles sharing tiktoks with those songs in the background and then playing it at parties cause the kids like it.

People have been anti radio since forever, glad y’all can finally join everyone else, it’s just obvious the motive behind it is self serving
