Do y’all think Spotify should show how many people/accounts listened to a track instead of just how many total streams it received?

It would more accurately show how big an artist’s fanbase and reach is imo

Interestingly I think that specific stat would quiet a lot of the current arguments we have now. It would be unarguable statistics about how big a specific song is if we know exactly how many people were listening to it.

It’s also something that wouldn’t really be easy to artificially inflate if they set it up the proper way

Sure, but it’s not like stream totals now account for how many people are in the room. Someone plays a song in a car full of people it’s just one stream, not five

And the idea would be that repeat listens in one day wouldn’t count as extra, one per day per listener

So you would see that a song is getting 1M daily streams, but only 600K people contributed to those 1M streams or something like that

This way, we would know how many people are truly consuming the song, rather than just getting consumed multiple times by the same people
