I think you need to listen to more music, especially outside rap. If Kendrick is deep to you, great. To me it’s not. For me simple music can be deep, it doesn’t need to come in a certain package.

For me MMBS is the kind of fake deep art that becomes a caricature of itself. Before Kendrick was deep and a social force for Good because he was continuing Pac’s legacy. Now Kendrick is deep because he is doing the opposite of that and isn’t a saviour 😂

If something was truly deep to you, you wouldn’t seek validation by pulling me up. It’d be deep for you and that’d be enough.

But I think you simply think it’s “objectively” amazing so no one could legitimately think it’s ass.

The most introspective songs on CLB (Champagne Poetry, 7am, The Remorse) exhibit a far higher level of artistry than anything on MMBS. In fact, even songs like Pipe Down are far more interesting to listen to as a lyrical metaphor and the flow/hook actually make it a bop. It’s even introspective.

People like you think it’s actually wrong to say artistically CLB is better than MMBS and like to reason away the streams down to “Drake is a mainstream rapper”. Fam Kendrick is a mainstream rapper.

There are no genres, if you do “you” right it doesn’t matter what kind of music you make it will be mainstream. You just fail to get it: for a lot of people CLB is the BETTER album :​

That's where it feels like your standom taking over. I'm not a Kendrick stan at all but the album is super high quality. There's couple or more songs in the first half I don't really f*** with. But the second side of the album especially is incredible and has no misses. Had a man tearing up. Only special music can do that

In terms of the numbers showing people not f***ing with it. I would say that for me personally it's a better album than Damn but it doesn't have the same replayability. There's not really any hit songs on there which obviously is a huge factor in how well an album will do on streaming (and even before streaming)
