I’m asking you about 2018, a year where two (at minimum, haven’t checked fully) rap songs lasted 50+ weeks on the Hot 100.

Drake’s biggest single of his career did not.

    Why is that?

I Like It and what else?

for hot 100 longevity you need to be on your knees for radio, which is something Drake hasn't done in 10+ years

    I Like It
    Sicko Mode
    Lucid Dreams

And that’s off a quick search, there might’ve been more that year

God’s Plan was sent to the same radio stations that I Like It was

how is this even a bad thing though? Drake's hits don't really last long because he's constantly dropping music.

As a travis fan when Sicko Mode dropped you had nothing else (except what was on the album) for years

Drake fans had NFW 3 months after God's Plan, 23 more songs on Scorpion 3 months later, then like 5 super good features that year

same reason Taylor's hits don't last that long on billboard

Juice WRLD released Lucid Dreams on May 11th, 2018, then dropped the project two weeks later

Had another project out 5 months later

And another album out 5 months after that

And Lucid Dreams still lasted 48 weeks on the Hot 100

Also, her two most recent hits both lasted 50+ weeks on the Hot 100.

    Cruel Summer for 54 weeks

    Anti-Hero for 53 weeks

That's 1 example, even The Box which was everywhere only lasted 38 weeks

Juice Wrld had to damn DIE to hit 50 weeks on Lucid Dreams lmao.

Lucid Dreams dropped like 6 months before that on the 999 tape. If you fw juice WRLD you should give it a spin

Because he's a rapper and doesn't suck off radio, just like taylor doesnt

even BL wouldn't have even hit 50 weeks without radio

has it ever occured to you that an entire generation of kids (streaming era 2.0) literally live and die by that song like lol do u know how long drake songs woulda been on the charts if we had streaming this entire time

take care was the most illegally downloaded album of 2011 and the motto was the most illegally downloaded song. also juice world f***ing DIED right before the quarantine and changed the brain chemistry for so many impressionable kids they're gonna take that song to the grave which i dont blame them

i saw juice wrld live at made in america before he died bro was ginormous lol

I just named you numerous rap songs that have charted for 40+ weeks within the past 6-7 years. All of Drake’s biggest hits have gotten massive radio airplay. That’s not a good excuse

Drake hasn't had major radioplay in like 15 years lol

I still don't really get what your point is. Everyone knows Drake doesn't push songs after dropping them like other artists (like Kendrick is doing with NLU)

The fact no other rapper is doing what you're saying regularly says it all too. Your examples are Cardi (no album in 7 years), Roddy (lol), and 1 Travis song.. like come on

Even outside rap no one's doing this lol. the weeknd hasnt done it on a song released since 2021
