So? are you saying 2018 had the same amount as we have now? because you'd be completely wrong lol
I’m asking you: why doesn’t Drake have any as a lead artist
I think nostalgia has cooked your brain
Are you seriously trying to say that Espresso was bigger, or as big as those songs in the US?

All I’m saying is you are wrong if you are saying that Espresso was not a mega hit in the US

Mega hit relative to every other song that's dropped in the last year or so yeah, because there's just not many huge songs anymore
Pre 2020 I don't think it's a top 10 popular song in any year

Okay, so you’re wrong
Nostalgia has you by the throat

You're cheapening what a mega hit is though, mega hits should be songs that almost everyone knows & recognises. Espresso isn't that. No one's remembering this song 10 years from now

That song is literally everywhere, please step outside
Nobody will remember a song that went Diamond in a little over a year just because @mangotflu on KTT2 said so!

Idk what ur on about because espresso isnt close to diamond

It was halfway to Diamond in 8 months. It will absolutely be Diamond by the end of 2025
Man it’s very beautiful to see Luther becoming a smash hit directly after people said Kendrick wouldn’t be able to get another hit song after Not Like Us
niggas argung with a b**** made rat in here
atleast kronic is just a dweeb, but a rat? nah nah nah not this time
zack argung with a federal agent
Sometimes i feel like people on here have only ever listened to 2018+ rap, not agreeing that megahits aren't as much of a thing anymore is crazy lol

lmao. britney's hit catalog alone washes every female artist's 2020+ hits combined

I personally agree with this, but that’s different from using Espresso to support your argument that hits don’t drive bigness. It’s not a megahit on S tier but it is huge enough to go against the argument that hits don’t do it anymore
Time will tell
Have you been able to tell yet btw?

Again, GKMC/DAMN putting up numbers isn't surprising. Those two albums haven't left the Billboard 200 for years (even though their recent boost in chart activity is also directly linked to the beef). However, albums like TPAB/MMATBS only re-entered the Billboard 200 because of interest related to the beef. Suggesting otherwise is simply being disingenuous.
No one is saying Kendrick is some scrub who NEEDS Drake to be successful but it is notable that none of his recent music (not even the music on his first album after a 5-year hiatus) had this kind of momentum. Suggesting that it's happening inside a bubble and solely because of Kendrick is being disingenuous so I don't get why y'all are acting like it's such a reach to say that Drake has a lot to do with it. Kendrick's catalog wasn't even doing these numbers THE WEEK his last album dropped lmao.
Again, all Kendrick has to do to kill off this narrative is to drop an album/single outside of the beef with Drake that puts up similar monster numbers and I'll be the first one to take back my words. But until then...

As a huge Drake fan Luther is obviously a Drake diss if you really think about it
Drake stans don’t want him to drop a rap album anymore because they know it will flop. They want him to drop any other genre so they can say “Of course the numbers aren’t high, it’s a r&b album” or whatever. Pre-coping is crazy

Maybe I misspoke then, cause my argument isn't that hits don't drive bigness
it's that they aren't required once you're at the top anymore like they used to be
it was catastrophic if you were a big artist and didn't release a huge hit that was everywhere in the 2000s. not the case anymore
