Because they are combined...
No they are not
Un Verano Sin Ti has one version on Spotify.
Scorpion has two, and has two separate entries of stream total with two separate numbers.
The streams for Scorpion are not combined, they just count the higher total
I specified in the US.
It makes literally no sense that a song with 1.5 billion streams has vastly more US streams than a song with close to 3 billion total streams
Billboard is bound to change rules about physicals and probably gonna say must be identical to streaming version to count. These test vinyls (especially with HUT) shouldn’t count.
Maybe Chromakopia’s count cause it’s like 95% the same…. S*** got extra verses and it’s basically the same but tweaked. HUT is like… 25% of the real album

We not bout to sit here and say Scorpion has 20 BILLION streams on spotify.
After Hours has four separate versions on Spotify, if all the versions were combined it would have like 40 billion streams

This isnt how it works.

Are you not understanding what I’m saying?
I’m saying it DOES NOT, because they don’t COMBINE the clean & explicit versions, they use the HIGHER TOTAL
They do the same thing for remixes and deluxes.
That’s why I’m saying OTR has 1.5 billion streams and not 3 billion
This isnt how it works.
I don’t think you’re understanding what I’m saying
They do not. Spotify recognized Un Verano Sin Ti as the highest streamed (non-greatest hits collection) album of all time, at 18 billion streams.
But an album like Scorpion has 10 billion explicit and 10 billion clean streams, but isn’t recognized as the highest streamed album of all time because the streams aren’t combined
I’m talking about BB. Spotify is weird, they don’t even count features towards the artists total streaming number
I don’t think you’re understanding what I’m saying
Scorpion does not have 10B clean and 10B explicit, that 10B is combined.

they dont combine the remix versions. So again i dont know what you mean.

bruh if no one is understanding it then it may be just you explaining it incorrectly
Flawed metric
Off topic kinda...I’ve noticed a pattern...rap has way more songs with over a billion streams than pop. Taylor has fewer billion stream songs than Drake and none over 3 billion but she’s still way more popular than him.
That’s mostly because radio stations still have a huge influence on what becomes a "hit" and what reaches #1 way more than streaming platforms and it's not even close.
Pop stars like Taylor have massive advantage because they get heavy radio play and it helps them to score a long charting hit. NLU is insane because it blew up almost entirely without radio and it’s had a bigger cultural impact than 90% pop songs that stayed at #1 for months.
That’s why Shaboozey’s song stayed at #1 for like 15+ weeks while NLU only got 2 even though NLU is clearly the bigger song. Same thing happened with that Post Malone song last year...it was #1 for almost 5 weeks yet no one really remembers it. Radio still has way more influence than streaming does and it's not close.

I’m not saying Scorpion clean was streamed 10 billion times. I’m saying that the clean version is listed as a separate entry on Spotify, but all of the streams for the explicit songs go towards the clean songs as well, so on paper it looks like the album was streamed a total of 20 billion times, but it was not

ok much clearer now, they double count and I agree.
Looking like this will be billed as “PARTYNEXTDOOR & DRAKE”

I think the beef definitely was
Sicko Mode as well
Maybe the God’s Plan video, but I wouldn’t say that the song nor In My Feelings were “cultural moments”
IMF absolutely was, no glaze. You don't remember everyone dancing to that s***, ghost riding whips down the block and everything? Definitely a moment

I don’t think a song getting a viral dance challenge really justifies being a “cultural moment” though. If that was the case, every single song that had even a semi-viral moment on TikTok could be considered a “cultural moment”

You know there are levels to that though
