using Die With A Smile as an example for an organic hit is crazy cuz almost nobody in the world knows 3 lines off that song
It's popular dawg lol. I heard it when it came out and I'm not surprised that it caught on.
tv off is holding up well on US Spotify and US Apple Music - interesting to see if it can fight off All I Want For Christmas
Radio might be enough to carry Mariah to #1 though
This is crazy
She’s just a yapper. Will say anything to defend Drake even if she doesn’t mean it

Is Christmas music the reason nobody drops this time of year? Lmao
Is Christmas music the reason nobody drops this time of year? Lmao
yeah
this wasn’t always the case tho. it’s been like this since 2019
Yeah but have you considered that Drake suffers under crippling gambling addiction and will forever have to work, make streams and do stake deals to keep feeding himself while everybody calls him a pedophile.
Meanwhile Kendrick can disappear for 5 years and he blesses the world every time he does something
lol
You must be mentally-challenged. Isn't the goal to release music that stands the test of time and people wanna keep listening to years and years later? Isn't the argument people like you have always something like "Drake only does numbers because he drops every single year." Well, he didn't drop this year, now what? See how stupid y'all look now, trying to find another way to cope?
You're mad because Drake's catalog is immaculate enough that even in a year when he doesn't score any hits or drop albums, NO RAPPER still comes anywhere close to matching up with his numbers
Well that’s what happens when you drop 45 twenty-song albums
Congrats to Drake for having a successful back catalog I guess? The new music ain’t moving
Anyways, Drake isn’t even the biggest Canadian artist anymore
It’s been 3 years since Weeknd’s dropped an album btw, and he has 6 less projects on streaming than Drake does

This thread is insane there’s no way yall care this much about other men’s record sales
You'll never understand. This is a lifestyle not a hobby 🦉

TGD: not like us was bottled to hell!!!
Also TGD: it’s literally impossible for big artists to fake streams and streaming services cancel it out. Big artists don’t get away with fake streams

caught in yet another lie
honestly should be perma worthy
Imma be real, what you're describing about UMG sounds like standard industry practice that's been around, and one that Drake himself benefited from (see the infamous Scorpion rollout on Spotify, when Drake was white-hot after the Pusha T beef), along with every major artist (Sabrina Carpenter), has benefited from at one point in their career.
I don't see the conspiracy with NLU. What happened with that song just sounds like what happened with Barbenheimer: it captured the zeitgeist in that moment. I was outside. S*** was everywhere frfr. Do I think that UMG might have given it a boost, whether Dot knew about it or not? Yeah I believe so. Do I think that UMG and Spotify colluded with each other to push the song just to mess with drake? No, that's ridiculous. But I am interested in seeing what kind of evidence that Drake's team has.
We can only speculate, but if Drake has been undergoing some contract negotiations during this beef or long before, then I can understand why he feels a way because that would mess with his money, but I don't see how Umg is responsible for how the beef turned out
That's why I think the defamation petition holds no water because Family Matters is essentially a Whitney smear campaign. It's rap beef, there are no rules, and he took it there, so it is what it is, but there is no complaining after that. He made his bed. We can't divorce the rap beef from the 2 petitions. I'll give Drake the benefit of the doubt and say that maybe he's had grievances with UMG for a while now. I'll even speculate further and say the 100Gig stunt was him lashing out at them lowkey. But the timing of the petitions make him look wild in the light, regardless if he has legit grievances, and the defamation petition doesn't help.
Also, just to point out at the example you gave, Not Like Us is a diss track with some foul, personal s*** being said on wax, while Die With a Smile is a beautiful ballad. The content is overlooked but I think it plays a major role imo. It doesn't really surprise me at which songs get more legs in the long run, I'm jussayin
Someone hearing NLU with zero context of the beef might get put off by the content without the context. You don't need context to get into I Had Some Help, or A Bar Song, and the Die With a Smile Song.
god bless you for reading any of those schizo posts

Context is important. Because it isn't easy doesn't mean it isn't possible, especially when it's being done with Spotify's knowledge. If you, CRACKASTEPPAVEGAN, own a streaming farm in say, Kazakhstan, and you backdoor Spotify's servers and boost the streams of a major artist by 10-50M streams overnight, that'll get flagged. It's many acts who have faked streams and eventually, they got caught by Spotify's system and had those streams deleted and of course, those accounts will get flagged by the system.
What allegedly happened with Not Like Us is unique, in that, at least, with the case Drake is making, things were done by Spotify, at the urging of UMG, to give the song an insane boost via countless playlist placements, relentless autoplay and algorithm recommendations, even when users actively weren't trying to listen to the song, so as to give it a massive boost in streams that it wouldn't have had otherwise.
At the peak of Not Like Us' success, many people noted how the song got inserted into their usual Spotify-curated playlists that had nothing to do with hip-hop or even r&b. Many people noted how they'd be listening to their own curated playlist of songs and a song would end and Not Like Us would immediately come on. They'd skip back to a song of their choosing and it'd come on again after.
Spotify isn't going to be stupid enough to be giving out 10M streams to Not Like Us daily because that'll eventually come back to bite them in the ass, but it doesn't mean they didn't use illegal tactics to give the song an unfair advantage to boost its popularity, which is the argument Drake is making.
We can see how once that "button" stopped being pressed on the song, it's dropped from its peak of over 14M daily streams to less than 2M daily streams, all under 6 months.
Other songs, which organically grew in popularity, have had much better luck sustaining said popularity (look at a song like Die with a Smile that's still pulling 10M daily streams 3 months in, with no signs of slowing down).
We'll see what eventually happens. If Spotify/UMG didn't actually collude to force Not Like Us down people's throats for months and Drake has no case, we'll know eventually. No need to go back and forth debating this when it's moved on to the legal world now but yeah, that's my long-winded explanation on why Not Like Us is different lol.
This is one of the stupidest statements about music sales I’ve ever seen.
So because the song was doing 14M at its’ peak when it dropped and is now doing 2M daily six months later, that means it was botted? Nigga there are so many hit songs that have drop offs like that
Espresso was doing 10M a day back in May and now it’s only doing 3M. Was that botted too?
St. Chroma got 10M opening day and is now only getting 1.5, were those bots?
