I'm hoping Bar Song has the chance to tie Old Town Road's record. Shaboozey deserves it, bro dropped the biggest song in country since Lil Nas, and arguably one of the biggest of all time. People might say it didn't have much competition this year but still it's a worthy song to be ranked up there with the Sunflowers or God's Plans. I think breaking the record is off the table unfortunately because the Christmas songs will come in but a tie is good enough

Yeah, I think the tracking time for the numbers on spotifycharts.com and Spotify itself are different but I do know that whenever new music drops at midnight, the first day numbers are considered a full day and GNX dropped at noon.

Eh, it depends. That's one song and the first Kendrick diss song ever responding to Drake. This is a full album. Streams should increase but I don't see a 200% increase like you're suggesting. Saturdays and Sundays are the weakest streaming days in the tracking week.

yeah i was just using euphoria as an example since it had a similarly short tracking day for its debut, i think the album will have something like a ~80% increase.

I hope it does because by my calculations, the best this album ends up doing is ~400M US streams.

25M US streams on Spotify and best case, 30M US streams from Apple Music on day 1. If it manages to sustain 50M US streams daily for the rest of the tracking week, that leaves it at 355M US streams. Add in an extra 45M US streams from other streaming platforms and that's 400M US streams at best.

Kendrick shot himself in the foot by not dropping the album at midnight. It would have had a much stronger start and a much better chance at reaching 500M US streams.

I really don’t think you can just double the first day numbers because of the missed tracking time. Everyone that was going to listen to the album first day had the opportunity so the only thing he really missed out on is the amount of multiple listens, which is a lot lower number of people than everyone assumes.

I think 35m-40m first day with full tracking is more realistic tbh.

So Spotify charts considering a day as 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM UTC would mean every album that releases only had 19 tracking hours the first day.

Yeah, I think the morning commute is definitely the biggest argument but I really do believe most of the general public goes “A new Kendrick album? I’ll check it out” and then they listen once and put a few of the songs onto playlists for the rest of the day.
