It's not about the artist compared to their own peak, its about the artist compared to the current peak of the game. The goal of any musician is to have their music actually listened to, if you're failing at that with your new releases I don't see how you can be a superstar still, you've become a legacy act.

Coldplay/Ed Sheeran etc are in that bucket for sure, their new music literally gets less than 10% of the hype it used to get 10 years ago. Their tours are still huge because people are going to listen to music that they dropped over a decade ago.

It's also not about ur last album, but the last 2-3 for me

but again when I talk about this s*** I think I'm just comparing it too much to pre 2010 music, where these musicians were just far more popular than any of these current ones

Since you brought up streams, all of those Drake songs combine (on Spotify) to about 11.8 or 12 billion total streams.

Meanwhile, Blinding Lights, SYT, SYT Remix, After Hours (alone), and Heartless alone equal 10.1 billion total streams.

So borderline the same amount off significantly less songs.

BL actually didn't have that much chart success in Europe, but I suppose you mean asia, yeah.

Espresso almost had more weeks at #1 in the UK than BL lol, but she blocked herself

Blinding Lights literally was number one on the UK charts for 8 weeks, spent 89 weeks in the Top 100, and has the country’s record for longest run in the Top 75 at 103 weeks.
