Ariana has seen more success than most female artists. Multiple #1 albums, multiple #1/top 10 hits. She has nothing more to prove. And it's not that she doesn't care, it's that the music simply isn't hitting with the GP as much as it once did, which is something every artist who blew up in the 2010s is facing right now. It is what it is.

Yeah she definitely has nothing to prove but I really do think she had potential to hit way higher levels, I thought during 2018 that she was gonna be seen as this generations Mariah Carey type of artist, but at this rate I don't think she'll be seen anywhere near that level 10-20 years from now.

Personally I wouldn't want an artist I like to spend 4.5 years w/ continued aesthetics and similar sounding music. Taylor did Folklore and Evermore within 1 year and hasn't stepped into a forest since.

Fair enough but everyone moves differently. The 3 singles off After Hours were really massive. I feel like they messed with the success from Dawn FM and he was better off riding the success of After Hours till at least 2023 before starting a new era. That's one of the things you've gotta live with when you have an album era that's that massive. SZA started pushing singles off SOS in 2020, we're now at the end of 2024. Taylor Swift pushed singles off 1989 from 2014-2016. It happens.

Ariana's career feels annoying to me, she has all the potential to become a legit superstar of her generation & be seen as that girl but it doesn't seem like she cares. She's just fading away into an artist that'll be mostly forgotten in 10-20 years

Dawn FM had no physical sales available first week. It absolutely would’ve cleared 300K if it did. None of his albums have ever debuted crazy high with streaming units alone

Dawn FM was his only post-Kiss Land album to not reach that figure and it was also his only release without physical sales first week.

Weeknd First Week Sales (Streaming Only):

BBTM - 86K
Starboy - 108K
My Dear Melancholy, - 101K
After Hours - 169K
Dawn FM - 148K

Dawn’s first week numbers were very consistent with what he’s always done considering only streaming units were counted.

Hurry Up Tomorrow will definitely clear the 300K mark since it will for sure have physical sales included

Dawn FM physicals were for sale from day 1, shipped week 3, he sold a measly 37k of them from Day 1 - week 3

no R&B/hiphop/pop artist is doing 100k physicals except Taylor now unless they do cheesy digital album bullshit which The Weeknd is almost certainly gonna do

even Ariana Grande just did 42k with Positions, 77k with eternal sunshine and she had to really push the hell out of vinyls to hit 77k. the weeknd is not doing 150k
