I love how you say say all of you think he’ll do monstrous numbers after i just said it depends what type of album he drops

If he drops a commercially appealing album similiar to DAMN. then i’d expect it to do similiar numbers to it. When Kendrick drops mainstream appealing albums, they have long and lasting mainstream success

Also, noone argues against this beef benefiting him. But it’s the semantic narrative that its ONLY cos he’s beefing with Drake that he’s seeing this ridiculous success. If he dropped some duds as a diss, they wouldnt be seeing the same numbers

I just feel a handful of Drake stans are discrediting how good the disses are to just ‘oh its only cos he’s beefing with Drake’. Is it one of the reasons? Yes. Is it the only reason? No. Simple as that

You do realize over half of DAMN's first week numbers were due to physicals, right? (exactly 353k of the 603k it moved in its first week were from physicals/pure sales). I don't see him ever touching those numbers again but hopefully he does because it'll be good for hip-hop.

meet the grahams peaking at #12 wasn't because it was a "great diss," let's just stop lol. If Kendrick drops that song at any other time, it probably won't crack the Hot 100 (reminder that The Hillbillies, a much catchier song released with a music video, peaked at #93 on the Hot 100 and that dropped around this time a year ago).

The truth is that it doesn't matter what Kendrick dropped. All he had to do was drop something — people were gonna rush to support it if only to spite Drake. Of course, if he dropped a song that was catchy enough, that'd stick longer but whatever he dropped was always gonna peak high, so long as it was aimed at Drake.

Megan Thee Stallion had the same exact thing happen to her. HISS is one of the worst songs of the year but it managed a #1 debut. Why? It's a diss track aimed at Nicki Minaj, another musician who is hated online and by most of social media. Many people who bought/streamed HISS did so because that was their way of sticking it to Nicki. That's it. I bet you all my money that if Cardi B drops a single aimed at Nicki, it'll see similar chart activity to HISS. That's just how some of these things work.

Obviously, Kendrick has many hit records that have nothing to do with Drake and I believe he can make a hit record on command whenever he pleases. However, do I think he can make a hit record as huge as Not Like Us without him taking aim at someone like Drake? F*** no. Why? Because the song is already set to be the biggest hit of his career (yes, even bigger than HUMBLE.)

With all of that being said, I am looking forward to Kendrick's next album. I've said it here before that the only Kendrick album I didn't care much for was MMATBS and I hope his next album hits the mark for me. We'll see what happens.

NLU is set to be one of the biggest hits of this decade, not just for Kendrick

I meant similiar numbers in todays world. So if he drops a DAMN/GKMC style album this year, i would expect it to do 4-500k. But imma be honest, i dont track streaming patterns like that, so i dont know whats good or bad anymore lol

I’d be more inclined to believe in this diss stimulus stuff if:

a) it happened to literally anybody else he’s been beefing with

b) drake’s own singles hadn’t been underperforming recently

drake had the same eyes on him that kendrick did. only one of them was able to do this. if drake had the smash instead you wouldn’t see me trying to spin that as a W for kendrick in any capacity

I’ll concede your point if drake’s next single is a force. otherwise to me it looks like drake just isn’t as far away from everyone else as he used to be in hitmaking ability

Kendrick is mentioned alongside legends like Jay-Z, Quincy Jones, and Stevie Wonder, while you're hyped about some Canadian culture vulture twerking his ass off for likes and views, LOL.

That song was a one week wonder with a music video and never even cross 2M daily US Spotify streams.

NLU being a diss definitely helps but it’s transcending “diss” record label and is legit one of the biggest hits ever during first two weeks. We will see how it will hold up but it’s holding up doing 5M US streams a day 2 weeks in.

I went out last night and it was being played every 30 min at the club with a popping reception.
