Kendrick really played this beef so well. There is no angle you can use to discredit him for anything that transpired really if you think about it. I love both artists music all the same but folks saying he had to mention Drake to do this... look he can't help that its his songs breaking records and smashng charts. This was a battle... Drake released singles mentioning Kendrick by name first and continued to release diss songs to streaming same as Kendrick did that's game. Drake had the same opportunity, no one had an upperhand really imo but his releases just were not to the magnitude of Kendrick's in this battle that is a fact.

What they mean is that Kendrick's discography wasn't pulling monster numbers before this beef popped off while Drake's discography was basically pulling the same numbers before, during and after the beef.

You can choose to ignore it or say it doesn't matter but it says A LOT that Kendrick is only breaking streaming records now that he's beefing with Drake — something he couldn't manage when he released DAMN, his biggest album yet, back in 2017 and something he couldn't manage with Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, his follow-up album to that in 2022.

The general point being made is Kendrick needs people who are really only engaging with his music out of disdain for Drake to drive his numbers up while Drake casually does those numbers without having to beef with anyone. A fact that's being proven by how 44% of Kendrick's total daily streams on Spotify currently are by his diss tracks aimed at Drake while for Drake, his diss tracks aimed at Kendrick only make up for 8% of his total daily streams on Spotify.

Y'all really are completely braindead and have learned nothing from this experience.

Drake got washed and publicly embarrassed because he, like his stans, incorrectly assumed that Kendrick was miles below him in popularity and incapable of making hits that were comparable in popularity to his own.

In the reality that most of us live in, no one else in hip hop except Cardi, with an assist from Meg, has put out a rap song as immediately huge as Not Like Us since the pandemic started and there's data to back this up. Drake didn't do that. Kendrick did. He did it without a feature too.

Cherry picking his recent streaming data to create a narrative that people only engage with Kendrick because of Drake is f***ing moronic when literally all of his recent songs have been Drake disses and are thus accounting for most of his recent streams. Only two of Drake's disses actually hit streaming, and he has a massive back catalog choose from, so it's not surprising that they only make up 8% of his recent streams.

Are you going to point out that Money Trees hit the charts for the first time ever the other day? No? Of course you won't, because you're entirely disingenuous about your argument and caring about the value of statistics in general.

There have been other Drake disses. Where were those on Billboard? Definitely not at the top of the charts. This beef brought out the best in Kendrick and boosted his public image, sure, but it happened because the songs were great, not because of his proximity to a washed up 37 year old Drake who himself doesn't have the hit power he used to, and we all know it.

Leave your echo chamber sometime and realize that Kendrick Lamar is a massively popular artist that most music listeners are aware of and at least passively enjoy and respect. Believe it or not, real life people listen to artists besides Drake and they like Not Like Us because it's a great, catchy and funny song, not just because your boy's public image has gone sour.

It’s almost like Kendrick hadn’t released an album in almost 2 years (an album that isn’t exactly about light fun easily accessible topics btw).

And then suddenly engaged in one of the biggest music moments in history releasing 5 songs in the process of a few weeks and being declared the clear winner and producing superior music.

Whilst Drake has been oversaturating the marketing with a jagganaought of a machine backing him the whole time. It’s almost like Drake has one of the biggest music contract in history that ensures he does big numbers so his investors don’t lose money.

And when I say Drake oversaturates the market it’s no overexageration. Kendrick has 116 total songs compared to Drakes 1574

The streaming percentage gotcha, which of course came from that jackass Kurrco, is a wild misunderstanding of basic statistics

Like yeah, no s***, the guy with fewer songs out, more recent songs that are disses, and higher chart placements for said disses because people enjoy the songs more would have a higher percentage of streams coming from his diss tracks this week

All to forward the laughable narrative that Drake is actually the victim because everyone else benefits from him and thus they should all be nice to him, knowing they wouldn't have careers without him. After all, everything is about Drake and, no, don't have brain rot at all!

I tried to tell Drake stans before the beef kicked off to not underestimate Kendrick’s star power heading into this beef. Someone who can take the hiatus he does and still break records with the topics he talks about will not be lil bro’d by Drake. Only LEGENDS can do something like that.

Drake mistook silence for weakness and got bit. If you're a beloved and respected artist, you can step away for a while and still make waves when you come back because you never overstayed your welcome.

The next Kendrick album is going to do massive numbers and the narrative among many will still be that his success is owed to Drake, even if the album has nothing to do with him. Oh well.

Why didn't Kendrick break any of these records with any of the songs off DAMN? Or with with any of the songs off his last album? Why did The Hillbillies flop? Why did the America Has a Problem remix flop? Why did it take him dissing Drake on Like That for y'all to finally put some motion behind his songs? You're stupid if you think him going at Drake + people wanting to see Drake get humbled doesn't directly correlate to all his diss songs doing the numbers they're doing.

What happens when Kendrick drops his next album and the lead single off it doesn't perform anywhere close to how Not Like Us has performed? What happens if/when he drops his next album and it's not a massive success? What excuse will you come up with then?

No one is denying Kendrick is a successful artist but he's also someone the entire hip-hop landscape has not only wanted to see go at Drake but who they'd already handed the W to way before Drake even dropped his first diss track in their beef.

This isn't even something worth arguing about. We'll all be here to see whose music performs better overtime. I'm going to bet on the guy who has been dominating the rap game for the past 15 years and who always shows up.

Y'all are convinced this beef has magically earned Kendrick a massive new legion of fans who'll be there to support whatever he drops next and for his sake and yours, I really do hope that's true because if his next album isn't a resounding success, there'll be some discussions to be had.

What waves did MMATBS make? That album was disregarded even Kendrick's biggest stans and it left the Billboard 200 after 70 weeks, only re-entering at the height of his beef with Drake. Even TPAB put up bigger numbers and charted for longer than that album and that's Kendrick's most conscious/preachy album.

Drake hasn't overstayed his welcome because he never goes anywhere and Kendrick still can't hope to match him numbers-wise. It's definitely interesting how you Kendrick stans were QUICK to switch from "numbers don't matter" to become chart and stat obsessed the moment Kendrick dropped a song that put up numbers.

Any interest in your music that can only be reignited because you're going at the biggest rapper in the game isn't an interest that can be sustained long-term. The beef is done now so people will slowly revert back to listening to the 2 Kendrick albums they were focused on, which are DAMN. and GKMC. You'll start to see euphoria and meet the grahams fall on the charts and soon enough, the same will happen to Not Like Us.

Like I said, we'll see what Kendrick's music outside of dissing Drake does. I personally hope it does well because I'm always here for hip-hop representation on the charts but y'all have grossly overestimated the sudden support for Kendrick's music as genuine instead of what it really is: people who hate Drake coming together to throw support behind Kendrick's music as a way to stick it to Drake.

We'll just have to wait and see which of us ends up being right when it's all said and done.
