Honestly, Nevermind was announced the night of release. If it was announced as a “mixtape rather than an album, then 204K sales would be okay to you?

It would’ve sold exactly the same regardless of the word Drake used in the IG post to announce it.

These type of semantics to differentiate projects simply don’t exist in the streaming era.

You're very stupid if you don't think the fact that Honestly, Nevermind was a dance album played a huge part in it's commercial performance. You think if Kendrick surprise releases an R&B album now, it'll debut with 300k simply because it's a new Kendrick album? Have some sense.

Damn we comparing drake to other rappers now damn I thought son was the biggest

There's no rapper that's venturing out into a different genre entirely and is doing the numbers they usually do when they drop rap music. No one. Including Drake. Stop it.

Isn't this a mixtape? If so, this is alright numbers.

But, if this is a hint at how much The Fall Off will sell fw, then that'll make the title of the album incredibly ironic.

Like others said, Kendrick got dragged to hell and back for just being a few units short of 300k fw for MMTBS. Hell, MMTBS's projections are part of what make this megathread blow up.

Ya'll gonna have to give Cole the same energy especially if you're cosigning him saying that Kendrick's music ain't hitting.

This isn't the same thing. This is a surprise mixtape, named after the vlogs Cole was dropping when he was in tour with Drake. We know the album he's gonna be dropping is called The Fall Off.

Kendrick got clowned because his first rap album in 5 years flopped. That's why. Cole just needs to make sure The Off-Season isn't 12 tracks like the rest of his albums.

I clown Kendrick because his big comeback isn't even on the top 200

    Why?

His best performing album first week is 4YEO and it sold 492k.

That album was after 2014 Forest Hill Drive so everyone was hype for his next album to drop.

He's been hyping the Fall Off for years now.

400k- 500k is pretty reasonable to me.

You're talking about 2016, industry is completely different now. And this is J Cole here, he's not a hit maker. His only #1 is First Person Shooter

    He's not touching 400k, he's getting high 200s/low 300s at most

  • Apr 7, 2024

so j cole wouldve done 100k if he didnt diss kendrick, this is bad

    Cole won

    Lmao no.

Were u there when rebirth released?

Rebirth was scheduled for a Dec 2009 release. It was rescheduled last min to feb 2010, but some copies were already shipped out so It leaked dec 2009. Leaked for 2 months prior to release when bootlegging was still prevelant is why it sold so much less than c3, not because it was rock

Not sure what genre you consider "Igor" but Tyler has openly stated he doesn't consider it rap. Yet Igor and CMIYGL did about the same numbers first week.

Drake fans are DRAKE fans. We fans of the artist and if the artist drops fire we gon bump it - like HL and FATD.

And going Platinum isnt the expectation - sellin 400K+ fw is. Its drake ofc it gon go platinum.

And while HNVM was a flop for drake its probably better than most artists best albums. Its just how good drake is.

This post some d***riding on another level ngl

He'll have a Drake feat and potentially better producers for The Fall Off tho

We gotta talk about what a MASSIVE hit Lovin on Me is. By far the biggest rap hit this year. It's Jack's biggest career hit yet. Glad Cole's getting a top 10 out of this and it's nice to see yet another song hit #1. I'm enjoying the quick turnovers at the top. I hope Too Sweet goes #1 next.
