    ManU Minute

Can’t Lie, dude who said “people clowed Kendrick for MMTBS first week sales are looking shaky” was spot on

People really acted like the early 2020’s changes didn’t entirely shift what is regarded as good numbers. If you said Ariana would get less than what kendrick got, people wouldn’t believe you.

most of kendrick hate for his sales was because his stans thought he would easily outsell drake. if they were more humble people wouldnt care that his projections kept dropping every day.

They love to give the credit of every Drake album's success to everyone but Drake himself.

    ???

This convo was about which album had the bigger features, how did you manage to spin that into a victim narrative

It wasn't just that. Many Kendrick fans also mocked CLB's numbers and boldly claimed his next album would easily outdo it (casually forgetting how much the music landscape had changed since DAMN. dropped and what that meant for album debut numbers moving forward).

I spent the first few pages of this thread trying to get some of them to manage commercial expectations on whatever Kendrick's follow-up to DAMN. would be but many of them still thought he'd easily put up numbers around the 700k-1M range.

    very debatable

sza, sexy red, bad bunny, jcole vs future x2 coming off one of biggest songs of the decade, young thug, lil baby coming off one of biggest albums this decade, lil durk, Jayz, lil wayne, rick ross, kid cudi, giveon

cole not that big anymore. bad bunny not either tbh especially not to sway it to fatd

Cole is not that big anymore? He’s been putting on one of the biggest festivals in rap music for the past three straight years, his last album did pretty well, and The Fall Off is highly anticipated. How is he not that big anymore?

Also, SZA, Bunny, and Cole were all bigger in 2023 than any of the CLB feature names were in 2021. It’s like literally not even close

Lmao these are superstars signed with billion dollar companies. They all make popular music.

Sales indicate if the people like it or not, I never said low sales = bad album. FATD and Vultures just happen to be s***.

There's a reason why DAMN and GKMC is outstreaming Morale already, the fans weren't into it.

Or maybe… Drake and Kanye are just 15+ and 20+ years into their respective careers so they won’t be selling as high as their commercial peaks anymore?

Crazy how you understand this but you're determined to paint Drake no longer scoring hits as big as when he was at his commercial peak as some sort of massive L.

You have common sense when it comes to Kanye's commercial limitations relative to how long he's been active in the game but all that goes out the window when it's time to have discussions about Drake

Again, NOBODY said 2009-2019 doesn’t count.

I think even the most anti-Drake fan could acknowledge and respect his status as the greatest hip-hop hitmaker of all time.

Saying “Drake doesn’t have any major hits this decade” is not the same as saying “Drake’s run from 2009-2019 doesn’t count”.

All we’re doing is simply acknowledging and pointing out the fact that his crop of hits from the past five years have not hit the same or had the same cultural impact + staying power as his hits in the 2010s did. And there’s NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. It’s just the way it is now, and that’s okay!!! His resumé is still unmatched.

And yes, it is true that he has been outdoing everyone in rap this decade (sales wise), but rap this decade has not been particularly dominant either, not the same way it was in the mid-2010s

I literally said THERE’S NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT

Carnival went #1 and you IMMEDIATELY started pushing narratives about Drake not having any legitimate hits this decade. All because Kanye scored his first hit in forever.

Keep acting like all your posts aren't all these just a few pages back, though

    No I didn’t

The first time I mentioned Drake in reference to Carnival was in response to someone else, the thread was already talking about it before I entered

Also I’ve been saying Drake doesn’t have any major hits this decade for a while now, way before Carnival was even a song, it has nothing to do with Kanye

Has nothing to do with a victim complex. I can just see through your bullshit attempts at trying to talk down on Drake's impact and commercial dominance.

You spent several pages trying to push the narrative that Drake's hits this decade aren't because of Drake anymore but because of niche artists who he features on his songs. You spent several pages trying to push the narrative that since 2018, he no longer scores hits at all. Both blatant lies. When numbers got brought up to refute your silly points, you deferred to "well, numbers aren't everything" (when discussing commercial success — the one part of the music industry that directly ties in with numbers )

All these posts by you are still up btw. Me calling you out on those stupid statements isn't me trying to paint Drake as a victim. It's just me calling you on out on your dumb statements lmao.

I never once said that man

I said he doesn’t have any MAJOR hits, and that he doesn’t have any MAJOR SOLO hits since 2018.

Nobody’s trying to talk down on anyone’s impact, the guy is my second favorite rapper of all time and one of my most listened to artists year after year. I can still be objective and not act like the guy can do no wrong though.

I can literally link my Apple Music Replay, I’m not lying about being a Drake fan nor am I “quietly” listening to his music, everyone who knows me knows I’m a huge Drake fan

His commercial dominance has nothing to do with him being perfect or not. These aren't debates about the quality of his music. You tried multiple times in the last few days to downplay his dominance on rap (a stupid thing to do when he has remained the most dominant rap artist for the better part of two decades) and when you got called out on it, you started crying about people making him out to be a victim when they're just calling out the stupidity in your statements. If it's not downplaying his impact, it's trying to credit other people for his own success. Just consistent stupidity when it comes to your points.

Also, no one gives a f*** that you're a Drake fan. Even people who spend all day on here hating on Drake listen to his music. That's not a secret to anyone.
