I still can't believe SZA outsold. Kenny used to run TDE and now he retired from the label without the crown. I still think he self sabotaged and gave us a weak rollout and mid album because he wanted to save the real music for pgLang. His next album will be over 350k easily
He's already released his first song on pgLang (Hillbillies) and it was awful
Whether you think the album is good or not Ariana not cracking 200k is the last nail in the coffin as far as her commercial reign goes. Taylor's as big as she was during her 1989 era and Olivia has surpassed her in both radio play and hit making output. If Dua manages to outsell this with her next album she'll officially be out of the top 3
Her antics outside of music have not done her any favors but the rollout felt really mismanaged it feels like she doesn't even care about the music anymore. If Wicked does good I could see this being her last album for a long time
Dua's singles are flopping, she will sell 130k max
And Ari will come back as early as next year with a proper rollout and a bigger album
tf y’all talking about Drake and Kendrick for? lmfaoo
Everything is about Drake, French Monatana and Kendrick Lamar
The Big 3 of hip hop
I feel like pop music relies more on staying power than huge first weeks but there’s a lot of big names releasing soon I’m not sure how that might affect Ariana
Yes it absolutely does focus on weeks instead of first week. Adele and Taylor are like the two female popstars who compete for first week sales
Pop stars play the longevity game when it comes to their albums broski.
Positions sold 174k fw.
Ideally they should aim for longevity but Ariana wants a big week. She just now dropped the "slightly deluxe" with 4 additional songs and posted it on her fan account immediately
Artists dropping their deluxe after the estimates come out is always funny ngl I'm crying rn

Saw this coming from a mile away. Gotta get over that 200k mark.

https://twitter.com/PopBase/status/1766692023439159404Yep back to back flops would be bad for the narrative. We know Ari is chart obsessed, she had Pop Crave and all her fan accounts tweeting her Billboard achievements nonstop at her peak, the last thing she wants is to be seen as "falling off" even if these would be great numbers for anyone else. She just can't help herself but after this terrible rollout she only has herself to blame

https://twitter.com/PopBase/status/1766692023439159404ain’t no way this would get more than a 5k lol. She’s donezo. There is nothing she could do.

I don't think it'd have made much of a difference if she had a better rollout because the music itself isn't that good so even if she had a bigger first day just off hype, the days after would have crashed back down because people wouldn't have returned as much.
Imagine being obsessed with sales when the actual artists barely make a cent from them 😂

They’ll have no rebuttal for this lol

I don’t think that’s how pop music works. Rollout is more important than the music “quality”, which is subjective. It was clear weeks ago that the hype just wasn’t there for this project. Anyone could’ve told you it was already a flop before it dropped
The way ari always does this “multiple selves/me being there for myself or friends with myself” type imagery all the time makes it seem like she’s a narcissist
carnival is bigger than any drake song in the 2020's, im actually in shock. i forgot what real staying power looked like

I don’t get what it’s trying to say, though? Dua’s popularity has grown exponentially. Future Nostalgia’s first week wasn’t big at all but by the end of that year it had sold millions and was even more popular the following year. It’s one of the most streamed albums ever on Spotify.
