It makes no sense that Kanye ran a Super Bowl ad but decided not to pay to be on Apple front page. It’s way more likely that Apple just said no. I don’t know why people are assuming that he and his team would just not do these things.

-last one w Cudi did 140k with only 7 songs
-went full MAGA and saw increased sales through Donda 1
-no promotion on streaming platforms true
    -due to his own negligence
-Donda has missed two days of tracking
-no radio play really not the biggest driver for hip-hop

    didnt KSG have pure sales?

a lot of yall try to generalize your "in the know" perspective from being on sites like KTT to the average music listener

there are a lot of people I know who listen to kanye religiously and didnt even know this album dropped lol, mainstream backing/promo matters

im not a first week sales PhD but as far as I can tell 150k is p good for a collab album

Usher had the front page because Apple paid $50M for the halftime show

An untouchable human being that had no problem airing a Superbowl ad and is in the process of booking a worldwide arena tour. Y'all don't even try with these excuses.

You folks are completely jaded to the point that everything is an angle this album was tangibly suppressed on streaming this isn’t an excuse it’s a fact

I mean I know my personal friend groups who are music fans/Kanye fans who knew Ye was dropping as well

He spent more money on the superbowl ad to sell his shoes than his music. That's his priority

  • Feb 19, 2024

the Super Bowl ad is a damn myth to me I didn’t see s***, but apparently he paid that himself just like the f***ing creepy Jesus ad’s he spent the cash himself that not some co signing him

Beyonce deserves the #1 with this one

Way better than anything off Renaissance

Sure but Ye wasn’t even listed under new albums on bottom

  • Feb 19, 2024

doing the same numbers you did with your beloved frequent collaborator now at the public low point of your career with another collab album & a top 3 hit independently is an L …that’s some serious mental negotiation going on

Idk. He should've released on time

He was on all the major playlists on AM when he was using someone else's distribution lol

Yeah, and he tried to get distributors for this too and all the major ones said no. There were tweets about it back in Dec/Jan from his team. That’s my entire point

How are there still people in here tryna act like Ye didn’t have an uphill battle with this album?

The man said he loves Hitler and lost out on so many industry connects because of it (rightfully so!)

The fact that he was still able to go #1 purely off streaming AND land a #3 hit without the support of the streaming services + label is a huge feat no matter how anyone tries to flip it

Releasing on time =/= Apple Music’s “New Albums” tab

There are projects that weren’t released right at midnight on Friday that were added to that section after release.

Vultures 1 was out for 6 straight days and never once got added to that section, there’s probably thousands of casual listeners out there who STILL have no idea the album is even out

He's an independent artist, he needs to hit Distrokid like all the other indie acts. He not special lmao

Implying that KanYe needs those things when controversy has always benefited him just as much if not more lol.

Pretty sure Donda went #1 too. Not a huge feat.

who said it was a win for independent artists?

I've seen and heard it after the release and that's what the sentiment looked like in here

It's hardly a win for him atp either
