It's interesting a lot of people talk about how touring/physicals is what artists care about the most cause thats what makes them the most money

whilst iv noticeda lot of those people are people who care a lot about worldwide streams now, talking up Bad Bunny's streams for example

meanwhile his streams are mostly in dog s*** countries which pay like 30% of US streams

Colombia is $1k per 1m streams, USA is $3.5k per 1m streams

if a list was made of 2022 + 2023 streaming revenue I think Taylor & Drake & Morgan would be so far ahead of everyone else it'd be a joke

    Crying about what?

I'll also tell you that Taylor's 10 times bigger than Lil Wayne right now and I stan Wayne. I just like to keep things objective.

Also, South Asia is total cap. Taylor Swift is literally one of the most streamed artists ever in India and Pakistan. I don't know where you got the idea that Drake's bigger in that region. Eminem is damn near the only rapper that's actually huge over there.

Yeah idk what that guy is saying there is a 0 percent chance drake is bigger than taylor in south asia and the diaspora lol

Did MJ have 6 albums sell over 1m first-week?

Also he had to be all mysterious and wait 5 years between drops in order to sell a lot. She can do this while dropping every other year.

    Unprecedented.

Taylor's about to have the highest grossing tour ever and is breaking records in movie theaters and ya'll think these sales are only coming from a niche of diehard fans?

My dude...I don't even f*** with Taylor like that but that's a strong form of cope right there. Taylor's bigger than every rapper rn.

Taylor is massive, true. But her fanbase also created this culture of always buying physicals and also buying multiple copies of the same album. They need to own all four different covers, that's pretty much normal for them

i'm sure you know all know what I meant tho, they are the worst countries to be popular in

that's why artists like Camila are constantly deepthroating US artists to try have a big career there instead

    For real.

I guess it's because Indians in Toronto/Brampton must love Drake a lot.

But I live in NJ which also has a huge Indian population and I can tell you right now that damn near every Indian or Pakistani girl I stumble upon on Bumble is a Swiftie based on their Spotify list lol.

I don't even necessarily see Indian bros out here stanning Drake like that.

And, in South Asia, it's not even close. Taylor is massive number and streaming wise there while Drake isn't even close. Only Eminem comes close to Taylor's numbers out that way.

I'm claiming they regret it because Drake isn't even doing half the numbers he was doing 5 years ago now, yes lol. Not sure why that's so crazy. Everyone thought Drake would keep doing views/scorpion numbers for a while longer but he hasn't managed it

Drake has talked about it being $500m himself many times, it'd be pretty weird if he was lying about the number

I don’t think you understand how industry deals work so this discussion is just useless lol.

But a label was obviously aware that Views & Scorpion was likely his peak when they happened. That was a decade after his debut post Scorpion and he was in his mid 30s. Practically every artist in history has reached their peaks in their careers by those points.

He has had one of the best natural declines of any artist. He is not selling 10k or failing to chart. He is doing half a million first week and still breaking records. That is pretty much the best standing any artist could be in after their peak

Also again, the contract they formed likely also related to his music even pre 2019. Obviously an artist as huge as Drake likely came to the table wanting to buy the masters and rights to his 2009-2018 music that he never had to begin with when attempting to enter into further deals with Universal/Republic again. The fact he didn’t get his old music like many superstar artists do when re-configuring deals means that UMG probably negotiated some favorable stuff for him but also secured a bag for his old music going into future years. So when Drake is doing basically 10 million+ album units annually ($100m+ gross) across all his music… they’re obviously earning every dollar invested and then some.

yeah sure it makes sense if the deal includes his old pre 2019 music, iv just never seen anything about that
I don't think Drake's decline is anything to do with age though, more the type of music he makes now and the laziness with marketing

Ok but what Taylor albums/songs are really piece of arts? Something that really stands out in the history or music? Her music is bland, generic, uninteresting
