    Oh okay. My bad.

If you include US figures in the overall total, Drake is obviously the bigger artist. Which explains the IFPI numbers.

The point we’re making is that in all territories excluding the US and Canada, The Weeknd is currently the bigger act, which explains the Billboard Global numbers.

Let's check Billboard Year End 2022

The 200 biggest songs in the world

    #10. Save Your Tears
    #16. Blinding Lights
#91. One Right Now (Post Malone)
    #100. Starboy
    #103. Die For You
    #140. You Right (Doja Cat)
    #142. Moth To A Flame
    #176. The Hills
    #181. Take My Breath
    #190. Sacrifice

    #44. Wait For U
    #81. Jimmy Cooks
    #136. Knife Talk

    Albums

    2022 (IFPI)

    #15. Dawn FM
    #20. Certified Lover Boy

    2021 (IFPI)

    #5. After Hours
    #13. Certified Lover Boy

The people of the world have spoken

  • Oct 14, 2023

The IFPI disagrees with y'all. The mere fact that Abel couldn't outdo Drake globally in 2020 with his biggest year yet proves that.

According to you guys, Abel's hits are bigger, have more longevity and are more organic than Drake in the US and he's a much bigger artist than Drake globally and yet with all of that, he has never once been ranked above Drake globally by the IFPI. I rest my case.

This is a very stupid argument to make because for the Weeknd being the bigger artist globally if you have to remove 2 major nusic markets to prove your point

  • Oct 14, 2023

How did this even turn into a debate lol

My point was that yall are mad choosey about when global numbers matter and when they don’t

You should always prop up global numbers despite being a U.S./N.A. artist

    How is that controversial

"Sure, let's remove the US/Canada (two of the biggest music markets and two of the biggest music markets for rappers) and voila! Look! The Weeknd is now bigger than Drake globally!"

    Y'all are clowns, man.

Because the original point was about Bad Bunny possibly not selling super high with this album in the US, but him still doing numbers in markets across the world.

To which the conversation led to The Weeknd being bigger in other parts of the world, not including the US.

Nobody said Weeknd was outright bigger than Drake including the US

They don't have a rebuttal for why he still hasn't ever outperformed Drake globally on the IFPI Global Artist chart. Even in 2020, which was his biggest year ever and was also a year Drake didn't drop a massive album.

Can drake do a worldwide tour and bring in the crowd and numbers that the weeknd did? Serious question

I’ve explained to you three times that Drake’s US numbers put him over the edge because he’s that much bigger here than The Weeknd is. It’s like you’re refusing to understand or acknowledge that point

But you're saying he's bigger than Drake GLOBALLY, which, last I checked, included the US + Canada, so wouldn't you having to remove Drake's US + Canada numbers (two of the biggest music markets for rappers) to prove that the Weeknd is the bigger act globally, defeat the entire point of your debate?

    Bro no

We’re saying The Weeknd is bigger than Drake OUTSIDE OF THE US. Don’t think we’re saying he’s bigger on planet Earth, including the US

  • Oct 14, 2023

Look at the Billboard Global 200 Artist Year-End Chart of 2022, Weeknd came in #3 and Drake came in #16.
That chart excludes US consumption, which is what we’re saying. He’s bigger than Drake outside of the US
