Love Life UtopiaNah I gotta disagree. There are plenty casual fans of artists who play their music and check in on their recent releases when it crosses their vision. Otherwise most of these artists wouldn’t have careers today when they drop music if they only relying solely on a core fan base of stans
That isn't true if you look at the numbers tho. Look at how bad Dawn FM did first week. 134k streaming units, After Hours 170k.
Meanwhile Drake did 562k with CLB. 3.3x AH
Does that mean Drake has roughly 3x more fans than The Weeknd, whilst The Weeknd's audience is a lot more casual? Cause that just wouldn't feel right to me.

I’d say his max would be maybe 150K in total. Not 150K from bundles alone, but with his usual pure sales numbers included.

He’s at the top of tons of playlists, consistently is on the radio, the person you’ll play at a gathering cause most people like him. But stan is just a little too far to call all of them. A lot of casuals are people that fall into these categories

The Weeknd is missing a lot of the rap/r&b audience that Drake has at the end of the day. That same audience thinks Abel just makes music for white girls now so that plays a part in that (aka the audience that loved Trilogy abel)

Pop doesn’t really do insane numbers on streaming first week, and also Abel is an artist who does rely on pure sales a ton because he also has a very dedicated, rabid fanbase.
Dawn’s first week numbers were so low because he didn’t have the benefit of physicals like he did with After Hours, which almost cleared 500K.

CLB did 46K in pure sales first week, so with a 60K bundle boost that’s around 110K, which is what they’re saying pretty much

CLB did 46k digital sales and Utopia did 111k. That's around 40%.
Utopia did 142k physical...so 40% of that is around 60k.
But I'm not sure Travis's 40/60 digital/physical split would apply to anyone else. Frankly I'm pretty baffled by it myself. Mr Morale only sold 35k digital but we all know his fanbase loves buying physical media and would've likely bought more than 50k CDs and vinyls

First off, y'all definition of ''stans'' is flawed. There are stans who can do the most to defend an artist online but won't buy merch or tickets. There are those who don't care to do all that s*** but will show legit support. Doesn't mean they aren't stans or hardcore fans, they just show their support in a different way.
Even in sports, there are people who are season-ticket holders, who have tons of merch and apparel and show hardcore support but won't engage in the bulk of the rabid activities typically associated with stans. Doesn't make them any less hardcore fans.

Yeah Kendrick would’ve definitely benefited a ton from physical copies, his music sells crazy on vinyl.

Man I think i’m putting a ban on sharing my opinions with Drake stans from here on out unless it’s positive. I respect everyone’s opinion on this site but y’all really can’t hear ANYTHING unless it’s fully positive. That’s just annoying to me and defeats the purpose of a healthy forum experience.

Not a lot of those people would consider themselves a part of Drake's fanbase, but they'll make posts and s*** about it because that's what's dominating the conversation at that point in time. People outside of this site love drakes music but can and always call out the bs lol we grew up on dude’s music so yes we can talk s*** and still attend a show and play an album and love the best cuts off it. You don’t have to ride or die for an artist like how they do with Drake
