Choosing what to listen to and listening to it isn't a passive action at all though? Makes no sense at all. If it was so easy to game this stuff you'd see the artists with the most amount of freaks at the top of the game but they aren't.

Tours are 100% a flawed metric also because rappers aren't good performers because rap is trash live

Not paying for or only paying $10.99 a month for unlimited access to all the music in the world throughout history with the press of a button is passive in comparison to alternatives like buying an individual piece of music or paying to see a concert

And that last sentence is more about the need for rappers to step it up rather than being a valid reason why touring is a flawed metric cause it’s unfair to rappers

Beyonce is a much, much, much bigger celebrity and always will be. Celebrities sell tours, musicians don't

I think that's the distinction we need to make & what everyone struggles with

& again if streams are so easy to manipulate, why does Nicki Minaj/BTS always flop. Nicki's last album (Queen) only sold 100k streaming units even with her insane fanbase, you think they just had no idea how to "manipulate" streaming?

Beyonce's first album in 5 years only did 138k streaming, meanwhile Travis is doing 245k-275k. If it's so passive why is someone as big as Beyonce stuggling so hard when it's apparently so easy to game?

Nobody is spending $100+ on a concert ticket and making travel arrangements and planning an entire day around a two hour concert for two pop songs that they like. Look at Weeknd’s tour setlist, 80% of the songs he plays are not family friendly whatsoever, and he still has 50,000 people singing all the words with him every single show.

Of course fans will be desperate to see their favorite artist in real life, that just comes with the celebrity when you reach global supe om. I’m sure if Harry started standing still in silence for two hours at numerous shows, he would start to see his ticket sales dwindle, but that’s a ridiculous scenario. Fans are obsessed with these artists, yes, but what caused them to become obsessed is the music.

Also, Nicki’s last few singles have all been doing extremely well, she just hasn’t dropped an album in five years. Drake’s streaming numbers are insane because: 1. he makes very commercially accessible music, 2. he drops a new project almost every single year, and 3. he reaches more audiences with his music than any other artist does, and he’s aware of that.

I never said all artists who receive streams were doing so by way of manipulation, I’m just saying streaming is a completely passive action that doesn’t require any more effort from the listener than spending $10 and pressing play

Travis Scott is a vacuous void. Listening to his music just feels like a bottomless abyss - he has nothing to say, there is nothing Travis Scott conveys that vaguely resembles a human being with human emotions. A completely vacant husk on top of (sort of) interesting production.

Travis Scott is all aesthetic and no substance.

On his entire tour setlist, the only family friendly songs are Can’t Feel My Face (which is about cocaine), Out of Time, I Feel It Coming, Die for You, Save Your Tears, and Blinding Lights.

That’s 6/29 songs.

50,000 people are not going to a two hour stadium show to hear 6/29 songs.
