It never happened so we don't know that. And in comparison to IANAHB2's numbers, yes, C5 was an absolute sales boost for Lil Wayne. That's a simple fact. I don't even know why that has to be debated lmao.

    IANAHB 2 is 2X platinum.

    C5 is 2X platinum.

Albums don’t stop selling after the first week; unless you’re Pusha T.

Stop making stuff up. I never gave a single excuse for why IANAHB flopped. If I had to give one, it’s because it’s total asscheeks. Don’t worry, I’ll keep the same energy for Drake.

It didn’t flop. It’s platinum with multiple hits lol.

I gave them a clear cut example of 5 year anticipation boosting an album sales and they come up with fake scenarios and mental gymnastics.

Didn't even mention the examples of artists dropping TOO soon after their last which result in a decrease of sales.

Even worse? IANAHB/Carter 5 are both RAP albums yet dude was spewing some nasty-level cope. You hate to see it.

It dropped in 2010 and was certified platinum in 2020. It sold 110k first week while the two Wayne albums surrounding it sold 1 million. It was certainly a flop for Wayne at the time.

I might need to do that myself. There's like 7 people I haven't blocked yet. Might as well get to it.

But you have no problem comparing Honestly, Nevermind's numbers to CLB's numbers? I don't know why I keep forgetting that the only time you lose all common sense and form of reasoning is when it comes to anything regarding Drake. Thanks for the reminder.

Which excuse did I make? The IANAHB series vastly underperformed Tha Carter series at all points in time. No 5 year gap or otherwise had anything to do with it.

This isn't true. Ianahb2 and ianahb outsold c1 first week. Ianahb was a butchered release and it was intended to be ep so promo was different. If c5 dropped in 2014 if wouldve done closer to ianahb2 then 2018 c5.

  • e t

No, 1889 was stating (disingenuously) that C5 got a sales boost because of the 5 year gap after IANAHB2 which every single person that follows sales knows is false.

Didn't SFTW 2, Dedication 5, 6, No Ceilings and Free Weezy drop between those two albums though? So it's not a***ogous to Kendrick dropping Black Panther and completely dipping from public for years

Are we really going to disingenuously go in circles? The IANAHB series as a whole significantly underperformed Tha Carter series at all points in time. To the tune of 90% less sales. C5 being the lowest selling album in the Carter series has nothing to do with the wait after IANAHB2.

    c5 outsold 2 and 1 💀💀

How were C5's sales harmed by its delay? It's the bestselling Wayne album since C4 lmao. You're delusional if you thought a C5 album in 2016 or even 2017 was gonna do 1M+. That was never gonna happen. Most of Wayne's commercial appeal had fizzled out by then.

Only getting in on this debate to say - Carter 5 had a lot of hype around the time Believe Me dropped as the first single. YMCMB was still on a roll at the time, Nicki was still one of the biggest rappers out, and Wayne was not that far removed from big feature runs. His relevancy definitely fell significantly by the time C5 did drop.
