Y’all say Kendrick ain’t music to play outside or in front of hoes then say it ain’t weird
I get the argument about comparing eras but Drake was always that guy as far as his own era goes.
Best I Ever Had only failed to reach #1 because a generational smash hit (I Gotta Feeling) was #1 at the time and Best I Ever Had was a single from a free mixtape as an unsigned artist. Hotline Bling also only missed #1 because Abel released 2 remixes for The Hills while Drake sat and did nothing to boost his own song that week.
If we're talking hip-hop, Drake has always been #1 over all his peers since day #1. He's dominated in ways they never did and saw success they never saw till the streaming era became a thing.
Still, it doesn't mean you can't give him just due. There's a reason he's the most dominant artist in the streaming era. If doing what he does was easy, everyone would do it.
It's been 13 straighten years now of dominance. A never-before-seen thing in hip-hop history. Hate him or love him, you can't deny the run he's been on and is still on.
He’s definitely been dominating since about 2013, not taking that away. My point is just not to compare his numbers with MJs numbers or Beatles or anybody who peaked pre 2016. Because he’s the rare case where we saw him in both eras and there’s a big difference. He would’ve had several #1s like Ludacris, Wayne, Nelly etc. but he wouldn’t have the 10+ he has now cause no rapper could achieve that back then. NIP barely cracked the top 5 bro. That song was everywhere lol s*** changed for the better, you can argue. Tho albums wise I’d say new system has hurt album making process. Rap is feasting now tho so I ain’t complaining
Not that I really give a s*** about numbers(the album is great) but it’s f***ing crazy that Drake is really the only one doing over 500K every time now

None of that makes it weird
YEEZUS was weird
And outside of regular hip hop listeners, people who barely listen to rap are Kendrick's biggest praisers so it doesn't surprise me your rock friends like the album lol
Is TPAB weird? Cause that one is weird af to me too lol Yeezus is weird too but has songs like Bound that casuals would enjoy. this current album I don’t see many radio friendly songs

All that s*** isn’t weird, it’s just ass bro
Kendrick should have dropped an album expanding on the sound of Die Hard, Father Time, Silent Hills, Mr Morale and the two last songs, and he should have kept all the annoying Baby Keem type bullshit and the unlistenable music

Lmao. Did you not post J. Cole and Drake stats? Why can’t I post Eminem stats?
the thing that will always stick with me is how the Kenny stans were telling LGBT community how to feel about him using the slurs. wildly outta pocket
