I think the difference between what Kendrick said and what Drake said is Kendrick played into rumors that a lot of people already kind of believed, true or not, and Drake kind of pulled the Dave Free and DV stuff out of thin air.

Maybe it's an unfair advantage, but don't start mudslinging if you got Pedo rumors circulating for the last few years

something doesn’t have to be true for it to stick as a diss, ive said before if drake would’ve leaned in more on the fake activist angle (something i believe to be false btw) he would’ve had more of an impact because there are a lot of people who believe that about kendrick.

i don’t think back to back is the better song but it absolutely is the better diss track

let’s examine every diss he threw kendrick’s direction and you’ll see how bad it is:

• doesn’t have a set - false, fell flat
• the game, yg and chris brown have sets - one of these guys stood by kendrick another guy is an out of towner being extorted, fell flat
• doesn’t plant money trees in compton - blatantly false, fell flat
• wifing a mixed woman, cheated on her with white women while portraying yourself as pro-black - things kendrick addressed himself long before this beef even happened on complexion and worldwide steppers + whitney isn’t even mixed lol
• your son is actually dave free’s child - made up nonsense that nobody believes besides drake fanatics, fell flat
• you get a lot of awards and critical acclaim - funny delivery but shows how insecure he is about not being recognized in the same way
• you beat up your girl - made up nonsense that nobody believes besides drake fanatics x2, fell flat
• you moved across the country and haven’t seen your family in months - made up nonsense that nobody believes besides drake fanatics x3, fell extremely flat
