even if hov is better we saw Ye be better on WTT
I definitely agree with this but tbh that was Hov at his very worst imo
Something was very off about WTT/MCHG Hov and I cant put my finger on what. I almost skipped on 4:44 bc i thought he was washed
How the hell did this Nazi's obvious bait get 1k replies
This site is just showing its true love for Ye whenever they respond to his negativity
S*** my family Caribbean my mom didn’t play hip hop in the crib like that at all lol but my big brother did and on top of that I’m from a community where that’s predominately what you hear. Hip hop, r&b, house music..
I started to realize your exact comment a few years ago when discoursing with people on random corners of the internet. It’s a different life experience fs.
Thats the only point Im tryna make i just hate when niggas act like they perspective
I grew up around people who truly lived and breathed hip hop culture more than a lot of people on this site even, none of them thought Ye was the GOAT. Is their perspective invalid? They literally been living this s*** for years, s*** atp im damn near 20 years in myself

i think it'd be way balanced if jay put the Holy Grail song on WTT but then MCHG wouldve been worse

Im ngl i always hated that holy grail joint
Maybe not even fairly but i was never with it
Im actually gonna give MCHG a relisten rn bc i legit havent played that s*** since 2013

Its wild to think some songs on yeezus and MCHG were supposed to be on wtt lmao.
Better than the bullshit he been putting out

oceans, holy grail, guilt trip, im in it verse

It's fascinating if you approach it as Jay Z's version of Yeezus and what the two albums say about their respective personalities
He unfortunately may have been onto something

100% I grew up hearing Kanye man but I also came up hearing rappers from different eras… and I know a lot of people that would put alot of rappers before Ye. I personally still have his classics high.. and I do believe when it’s all said and done he’s one of the GOATs but there are valid reasons why someone wouldn’t have Ye in their top whatever
Same way there are those who would t have Kendrick either.

i remember when jay-z ranked his discog and put it like 4th or 5th
everybody clowned him. i know he just released it but it was still an awful take

He ranked it 6 and it is hilarious but how much lower can u rank ur brand new album
1. Reasonable Doubt (Classic)
2. The Blueprint (Classic)
3. The Black Album (Classic)
4. Vol. 2 (Classic)
5. American Gangster (4 1/2, cohesive)
6. Magna Carta (Fuckwit, Tom Ford, Oceans, Beach, On the Run, Grail)
7. Vol. 1 (Sunshine kills this album…fuck… Streets, Where I’m from, You Must Love Me…)
8. BP3 (Sorry critics, it’s good. Empire (Gave Frank a run for his money))
9. Dynasty (Intro alone…)
10. Vol. 3 (Pimp C verse alone… oh, So Ghetto)
11. BP2 (Too many songs. F***ing Guru and Hip Hop, ha)
12. Kingdom Come (First game back, don’t shoot me)
He shoulda swapped out v1 and v2 but i get it

Looking back i guess it's not that egregious
but imo half his discog his filler
so almost any order after 6 doesn't bother me (and ofc 4:44 would be top 6 now)

Jay got way more good albums than he gets credit for
Reasonable Doubt: 9/10
Vol 1: 9/10
Vol 2: 7/10
Vol 3: 6/10
Dynasty: 7/10
BP: 10/10
BP2: 5/10
Black Album: 8/10
Kingdom Come: 4/10
American Gangster: 9/10
BP3: 6/10
MCHG: 4/10
4:44: 8/10
This is honestly pretty close to accurate imo

Side note: we're extremely fortunate Ye blew up pre-streaming and got so many classics because the digital only era has given this man his own green light now to underperform and half ass for the last 8 years

I haven't listened to him in years and have forgotten most of his stuff but I'm not mad at the rankings. And ofc I'm prob less of a Jay fan than you and have a harsher rating system. I'd give his best album an 8/10

Aw hell nah lol
Yeah Vol 1 is easily a 9/10 album and thats one that always gets written off as one of his bad ones thats why I dont think people rate his discography fairly
It does have 2 terrible songs that were singles so I get why people have a sour memory with it but its literally some of the best rapping I ever heard aside from those 2 joints. 12 tracks of pure perfection and then 2 singles that are awful lol

My 8/10 is most people's 8.5-9 for context.

I feel like 4:44 shouldn't be a full point below vol 1 and American Gangster. Same tier IMO

Not for me
But I wouldn’t be mad if you ranked 4:44 over them, those are just prolly my fav Jay albums
