Have a buddy who played basketball in Poland for a season. Said a lot of the girls will do their makeup like this on a daily basis. Very weird.

"he hasn't abolished elections"
there are literally no oppisition candidates to vote for
all of the other candidates are literally fake
the real opposition leaders always got assassinated or got in prison (most famous - Boris Nemtsov, Alexei Navalny)
that's like saying that Kim Jong Un is not a dictator because the country is called Democratic People's Republic of Korea
well, he hasn't abolished the word "democratic", so he's not exactly a dictator !
my parents lived through the 90's and they will be the first ones to tell that the 90's were much much better times
me all of my male friends live in constant fear of hearing a knock on the door
and yes, I'm Russian myself and I live in here now
Would you consider Putin a dictator or a tyrant?
Whether Putin saved Russia economically/socially or not,his facism has definitely turned him into a dictator of some sort. When someone disagrees with Putin, and they end up dead a couple of weeks later,or your own people protest peacefully and stuff like this happens
"
The protests have been met with widespread repression by the Russian authorities. According to OVD-Info, at least 14,906 people were detained from 24 February to 13 March. Human rights organisations and reporters have raised concerns of police brutality during arrests and OVD-Info reported several cases of protestors being tortured under detention. The government has also moved to crack down on other forms of opposition to the war, including introducing widespread censorship measures. Other individuals who signed anti-war petitions have faced reprisals. After Putin announced a partial mobilization of Russia's military reserves on 21 September, over 2,000 people were detained in mass street protests in the following days."
Most people will call Putin, simply,a dictator.
To be fair, I find the definitions of Dictator/Autocrat/Tyrant to be hard to parse because of how regularly the terms are thrown around in western political discourse.
I also wouldn't say Putin saved Russia. That's a huge overstatement. Putin just helped avoid a worse case scenario for the country and helped stabilize it after desocialization. The country is still suffering under immense hardship and inequality but avoided being plunged into a "third world" status that Yeltsin had the country on track for. Many Russians are just terrified of both Putin's regime and the prospect of the economic situation worsening for the country so many vote for Putin out of fear and, as @nevertheless pointed out, out of no real opponents against Putin presidentially (I was also aware of this as well).
I guess the only reason I might hesitate to call Putin a dictator is because he doesn't quite have absolute power, just an overwhelming, corrupt, and undemocratic amount of power. The parliamentary body in Russia, particularly its more progressive elements, has helped make Russia at least a fundamentally survivable place to exist inside of for humans at a legit biological level lol. The shock treatment the country was subject to that was celebrated wholesale under Yeltsin as he ruthlessly crushed dissent for his regime sent the Russian majority into a state of utter disrepair. Inflation rose by the thousands of percentages, absolutely no social welfare existed within the country, public industry was butchered and sold off to western capital, etc. Some folks were able to make a nice way of life for themselves doing honest work in that time which is great, but a lot of people were in severe pain at the time, and that's a testament not to Putin and certainly not Yeltsin, but to the barely existent political plurality that exists in the Russian parliament, that gets into power through people's votes.
WRT Putin, he's a terrible guy, one of the worst leaders on the planet, but I and many will maintain that Yeltsin was worse and the prospects of both Putin's goons persecuting dissidents or a puppet leader for the west puts the Russian people in an impossibly s***ty bind that has them choosing a "lesser evil" in which the evil is magnified at the individual level much higher than at the individual level in western democracies where class rule, rather than individual rule, is the norm, the class being the wealthy. Of course not every presidential prospect, or would-be prospect, is aligned with the west, but Putin manipulates fear of both himself and of western imperialism to terrorize the Russian people. If fear of imperialism doesn't work, fear of political dissidence, i.e. supporting a viable and truly solid presidential alternative to the guy at the risk of imprisonment, is the next tactic. It's terrible.

Phew, thats alot of details my friend. I just think,as an American,Americans believe in freedom of speech and doing as you please,as long as it doesn't harm anyone else. Take those freedoms, and America/US will have to change its name. Putin thinks the US is weak because of our privilege, and thinks Trump can light a fire under white supremacy and use that as a basis to bring his influence into the US.
I think Republicans in general want to bring in some sort of facism into the US,and Trump is their gateway. The game their playing is dangerous though, but maybe its worth it to them if they can put fear/unsure-ness back into my minorities.
Europa so unfathomably racist they can't even find 7 black people on that entire side of the continent to do this instead
Yo it's a woman performing as 50
Also Beyonce killed it
!https://youtu.be/svdqAQ0oYhY?si=8Hp76dVAbbVuNV_dThis s*** dry and stinky
It’s a show about impersonating an artist the best and the greatest artists of all time are all black. Should have scrapped the entire show concept tbh but it doesn’t seem like their intention is mockery at least. Though, you gotta be totally oblivious to not realize that tasteful blackface does not exist.
I’m just sitting here imagining all the white folks all giddy getting their makeup done, happy to be a part of this show about the worlds most popular artist, ready to crush it….just to find out their “racist” now

I think there has to be a distinction drawn between what "Americans" believe, and what actually exists. Freedom of speech in the US is considerably better than in Russia, but the security of freedom of speech in the US has been in decline for decades if not longer. Free speech is tacked with an invisible asterisk of "free speech within the acceptable limits of the mainstream political spectrum", with truly dissident, anti-capitalist, anti-imperialist, and even anti-racist/sexist/homophobic rhetoric and ideology being sidelined and criminalized brutally in the country. Essentially, the US has "Free speech" for wealthy cishet white men, and "conditional" free speech for the rest of us. Otherwise, we risk deplatforming, losing jobs, and even imprisonment in some cases.
The laissez-faire ideal that Americans "don't care about what other people do as long as it isn't harming others" is again, within the context of the mainstream political spectrum. Pride parades, drag shows even when they are adult only, peaceful anti-racist/anti-capitalist/anti-war protests have been met with dry run arrests, violent subjugation by the government, and criminal arrests, and even public vigils for folks who were not neatly fitting into what was "acceptable" in mainstream American standards have been persecuted by law enforcement. The US is extremely concerned at a systemic level with the reproductive rights of women, gay marriage, racial and cultural self-expression, gender identity, and worker organization by way of peaceful means or otherwise. What's written on the tin isn't always what's inside the package.
Republicans aren't trying to "bring" fascism to the US, as a soft form of fascism in its most orthodox definitional understanding has existed in the US for decades, and a prototypical form of fascism ever since the founding of this country. Ever since the late 60s both Democrats and Republicans have been pushing for the same economic and imperial agenda that has slowly been turning the US into a fascist state. All Trump signifies is a significant level of fascist development being achieved in the United States. Proof of this is that, despite Donald Trump no longer being president and the "democrat alternative" having majoritarian power across the board, the uprising of fascism in the US has not only not decreased, but has continued to increase, which has been the case under every president regardless of party since at least Lyndon B. Johnson. Trump and the modern Republican party are just advancing toward the next step of development for American fascism
sorry if that was wordy lol, I'm really into this stuff
Someone said Kanye still more racist than the black face version
