Free YoungBoyAnimation doesn’t mean that it’s for kids. A lot of popular anime literally is made for kids but that doesn’t mean animation in general = kids.

Cherrywine001Perfect Blue alone has deeper, more mature themes than 90% of the s*** Hollywood is pumping out. I wouldn’t write off animation entirely as medium. There are so many things you can achieve in animation that can’t be achieved in live action
Perfect Blue is great. The average anime is about 3% as deep as Perfect Blue. Which is fine! Ninja Scroll is entertaining and wonderfully animated. Ghost in the Shell has incredible vibes. Starting a kids television show with 220 episodes is just so much less interesting.
Try some of the manga. Watch a Kyoshi Kurosawa movie. Read a Kobo Abe book. Listen to some Ryo Fukui. You could do all of that in the span of one season of that show.

You're kind of not wrong lol. Anime literally was kid's cartoons, cultural response, and cultural propaganda to post-WW2.
It just grew into a medium that can be aimed for adults or children now.
However, a lot of people are ignoring the fact most popular anime comes from manga published for kids and pre-teens

Very true they’re meant for kids but give deeper subtle meaning so that it doesn’t feel like a lecture. Kinda like Avatar the last airbender lots of good philosophical messages
