It’s split into 6 parts, just split up the watch into 2 days

People really thought super hero movies will fade off like Westerns

They will. Everything is a cycle.

It’s really amazing how Disney managed to take the shell of what Lucas and Spielberg were doing with pulp adventure cinema in the late 70’s and 80’s, filled it in with a format provided by Donner’s Superman & Raimi’s Spider-Man, removed all distinct authorial voices from it, and turned that into a flat standardized product which would be given a new coat of paint with each new release and ultimately convinced people this was the epitome of what quality in the genre looked like. Anything that deviates from that is considered weird.

I think you’re saying Marvel has found a winning formula and rarely deviates from it? So new directors are really just coming in to plug and play as opposed to drawing up or calling their own shots? I agree somewhat. There is a formula for all these MCU movies, I think that is needed so that they have uniformity since they’re in a shared universe. I also believe since what... Phase 3? They’ve allowed for directors to take a few more liberties and are branching out now.

I do whole heartedly agree though that the masses see Marvel’s immense success and have been conditioned to accept any deviation from that formula as sub optimal.

It's just because westerns were another genre that was almost strictly composed of adventures and violence and so were not taken serious for the first half century of their existence. They are not going to progress in the same way for alot of reasons but for now they are comparable.

Donners 70s Superman formed the mold like Stagecoach did in late thirties.

Decade later Burton's Batman's took it further like My Darling Clementine and Red River in the forties.

X-Men and Spidermans brought it the golden era like all the 50s westerns did when Searchers, Johnny Guitar and all Jimmy Stewart/Mann collabs.

Iron Man began an even bigger wave took over everything in the next era similar to the spaghetti westerns in the 60s.

Now we're basically in the revision era like the were in the 70s
