Nah Homelander was specifically created on some "if Superman was real he'd be a sociopath" s***.

Homelander even drops nigga with the HARD R in the comic lol smh.

Garth's whole argument against Superheroes in the comic is that their figureheads / fake celebs and that the cops / military / etc. are the real heroes. You can tell cuz the only superheroes he doesn't parody are dudes like Nick Fury & the Punisher

Its hilarious how some critics are actually mad about fans influencing creative decision making but are fine with corporations just making the same movie over and over because they know it makes money.

I think fandom influencing creative decision making would've been a terrible idea back in the 80s or 00s when creatives still got to make movies, but now that creativity is dead in Hollywood, I would take fandoms opinions anyday over corporations.

But also this take is just stupid because every corporation listens to fans online and decide to greenlight movies based on that. Thats why s*** like Detective Pikachu gets made. Only difference here is that the fandom revolved around a filmmaker rather than a brand for once.

what would be the chances of a real superhero not abusing their power for fame, fortune, etc?

In the show (at least) there are a couple superheroes that have good morale to them.

I think it's because niggas are cynical now. Niggas have become Lex Luthor. Had someone at school tell me Homelander is a more realistic version of Superman.

Like nigga to who? For you? People are cynical and project that. It's easier to see the worst in people and in things for some folk. And it's not even just Superman. Some of the same people don't rock with Cap or any morally just character

Agreed but Snyder’s take on Superman was cynical. It was the perfect balance of cynicism and optimism. Man of Steel might’ve been the first time any writer decided to give Superman’s parents two conflicting ideologies and I love that he struggles to embrace both sides throughout the series. He’s a Superman that wants to save people but is always questioning his place on earth.

But yeah anyone who says Homelander is a realistic Superman is a sociopath. Starlight shares his personality more than anyone on the show.

i dont think fans can ruin it. Fans might demand more of something but its still up to the studio and the filmmaker to have the creativity and final say in executing it if they believe in it.

End of the day, fandom is the reason we are getting all these mcu movies, its the s***ty corporation that is Disney and s*** producer that is Feige in making the same movie over and over again with lazy pandering to appeal to white liberals that ruins them but also makes these critics think the mcu movies are still not at the end of the day being made because the fans want to see them.

Well the comics are way more nihilistic than the show, there's barely any good superheroes in there outside of Starlight & these kid supers.

And for the most part nah, I find Garth Ennis' white guy cop / military worship super f***ing cringe & tone deaf. But then again dude's Irish so idk what the police brutality is like over there.

I feel like there would be superhero's that are corrupt but then again I feel like there'd just be dudes out there doing dumb s*** like bench pressing trucks just to see if they could lol.

The fact that EVERY single Superhero is a psycho or something gets exhausting to watch bruv lol
