It kills me that film criticism as a discipline has declined so much. Reading critics from decades ago they were much more insightful and informed because they had an appreciation of film history and seen many films.

Got an Oscar for his worst role but honesty Leto isn’t bad. It’s his “method acting” that makes him cringe, I’d argue that allot of actors have turned method acting into cringe including Jim Carrey and Shia.

That dude can’t be serious. I did a film and screen diploma 5 years ago for acting. Every week in the first semester we’d watch a film from each decade and review it. I’ve never been one to appreciate older work but there is so much gold in the earlier generations. I remember watching on the waterfront and being amazed.

I think YouTube critics are just crap. Usually there’s no basis behind what they’re saying. Similar to how everyone wants to be the needle drop successful but will never have knowledge like him.

It really is a double edged sword sometimes it can be good, like how the destruction in mos was used to influence bruces "hate" for superman even tho it could've been executed way better. then we have terrible things like the stuff you mentioned. I think the worst example of this is prob Rise of skywalker. Feels like they just tried to appease every single neckbeard yt critic out there which made the movie feel like fan-fiction
