Lmao the fact that all them niggas was scared of him while he was f***ing off gambling on races is insane
What an episode
Really liked seeing Ranta & Jinichi’s technique
that was dope asf, that sequence might’ve been my favorite
Hasn’t been mentioned much, but what a sad life Mai lived, my God…
This episode reaffirmed this was one of the peaks of post shibuya jjk, and there are two more to come imo. My only complaint about maki's elimination of the zenin clan is that it highlights how a lot of potential interesting world building isnt explored for no reason. There's a lot of implied political conflict between the 3 main clans and yet we know nothing about two of them, and the third gets annihilated before we get to know many of its members. I wished gege would've spent more time fleshing things like these out in the original manga than making modulo but it is what it is, maybe they just don't really care about worldbuilding that much
Episode lived up to the hype and anticipation, why are jjk fans complaining
Bc a large portion of media fandom consists of grown ass men who behave like children. In a time when an adaptation like OPM S3 dropped, the level of whining directed not only at this jjk episode, but at the show as a whole, shows a truly mind blowing level of ingratitude

Ive seen some ppl say this and tbh I agree - jjk would benefit from filler content. In the sense that it always feels like there's missed opportunities to expand the world building and character development.
That's actually my biggest gripe with jjk. Gege is rlly good at coming up with characters and ideas, but unfortunately (and Im sure some reasons are out of his control) not enough time is spent making us care about said characters.

They're only a*** about the Toji/Maki panel not getting enough screen time.

You call it filler but to me those are important bricks when creating a great story. Getting to know more about characters and the world they inhabit helps make these stories more real, more emotional and immersive.
To me jjk is missed opportunity the manga, because this keeps happening. Every time i find something or someone interesting in this manga, they immediately get shoved away by the author.
For example (manga spoilers) The culling games shouldve been much longer imo, they end just as they start really getting interesting, and kenjaku, while having a fitting finale to his character, never amounted to anything considering his reach and importance in the narrative.
This is just an example of many, and its why im so frustrated with this work. Theres plenty to love but the author loves shooting themselves in the foot. I thought they ended jjk to move on to something new but no, modulo is jjk 2. I just don't understand it

I think having two still shots side by side wouldnt hit as hard in anime form, so im not mad at the decison they went with. But i think it shouldve lingered longer, for me who has to read subtitles too i couldnt quite grasp the impact

Thats most of it along with some music choices I’m in agreement with. Biggest for me is Jinichi not being urgent like in the manga when approaching Maki.

It def should've had longer screen time, but I kinda' f*** with the approach of having the image of Toji overlap Maki.
It represents seeing Toji inside of her (pause) opposed to just having the side by side.

Like it’s an amazing episode. I just wish they didn’t do iconic panels (in which the character isn’t moving to begin with) at different angles lol they did that with Gojo’s honored one scene. And did it again three times this episode. But it’s still great.

Two more to come?
So Yuji vs Higgy is definitely one, Megumi vs Reggie is one. Sendai is one, Kashimo vs Hakari is one. I know people like to be pissy about Yuki and Choso vs Kenny but that’s still a peak fight. And if your weakest fight is Maki vs Cursed Naoya then that’s not bad at all, because that fight is an 8 out of 10 truthfully. But it’s all good, I’ll let the anime speak for itself. Every fight in the CG was good to some of the best fights in the series.
My least fav arc translated to anime making it worse
At least we move pass this s*** quick

The ancestral aspect, these families ancestors. The edo era. The heian era.
It feels like Gege fumbled a bit.
