LOCDOWNJupe learned the wrong lesson from his trauma. He thought he had a connection with Gordy the way he says "the aliens trust me". He tried to profit off JJ the same way he tried to profit off the incident.
yeah he has a complex of feeling like he was incapable of harm from animals or danger since what happened to him was a “bad miracle” ala the shoe standing up on its heel (which he was actually looking at and wasn’t making eye contact with gordy which refrained gordy from attacking Jupe)

yeah, pretty sure the cinematographer or DP in NOPE is Christopher Nolan’s personal one too.
plus Nolan is with Universal now I think so big promo for his film in a summer blockbuster

Glad people are noticing the eye contact, I thought the shroud of the tablecloth blocked his eyes, but the shoe makes sense too to avert his gaze
Was there anything with the shoe at all? Or just that THAT was the "beauty"/miracle of the moment?

I think it’s primarily just an anomaly that would catch his eye.
Though there probably is some kind of connotation to it considering it’s right next to a girl who just got mauled by an angry chimpanzee. Kind of a weird thing to fixate on in the midst of all that havoc.

What you think about the OG sequence, with a crazed fan coming to shoot up the taping, but shoots the monkey instead and saves the day ?
That might've been a lil less ephemeral with the bad miracle motif, but it would've been kino both ways

ive changed my opinion about this movie.
i like it. its good. its pretty layered either intentionally or unintentionally. ive been discussing it for over 2 days now. any movie to make me do that isnt deserving of me considering it bad. its a pretty enjoyable experience even if the pacing is a bit rough at numerous times.
and im definitely interested in seeing it again.

i think the fact that like when in the f*** has anyone ever seen a shoe sit on its heel like that? like it’s such a rare thing to happen probably so the miracle being the fact that he’s entranced by it so he’s looking at it so that it inadvertently saves him I suppose

tbh it's just nice to see a "black" movie that's weird asf sci fi and not only about racism. the abstract-ness of how the alien looked at the end reminded me of the fact that I only see white movies get to be that weird.
